Well, it's no surprise that people get hot about this stuff. The opinions widely diverge to say the least, and people's lives are at stake in big numbers. Not to mention all of our futures! I know I see red pretty easily  .

America is tarnished by the liberation of Kuwait? Fuck you

We are tarnished by making an attempt at catching the motherfuckers who knocked down our buildings and killed our people? Fuck you.

I'll give you Vietnam, but the next time the Germans can fucking have you. The Russian's too.

What a sad indictment of the very sort of jingoistic attitude that is making a mockery of your great nation worldwide. Your post above, and the subsequent arrogance you portray in further posts only goes to show how people like George W Bush get elected in the first place.

I shall never forget my own shock on the 11th September 2001, stood in a crowded train station whilst all around me people, like me were hearing the news from friends and loved ones on their cellphones. Surrounding me was a stunned silence, and I was not the only one who openly wept at the tragedy of your murdered countrymen.

Let us not forget that my own country was attacked on the 7th July last year by the very same organisation that destroyed your buildings.

Unlike you, myself and the rest of the good people contributing to this thread have the intelligence and farsight to understand that committing the even greater tragedy of the war in Iraq is nothing more than childish revenge if 9/11 is the sole reason. Regardless of the motivations of our leaders, it is the mindless sheep such as you that shame your nation and make you personally a laughing stock.

We were never in any real danger of Russian invasion, so your point there is invalid. Do not ask me to explain that to you, go and read some history books, or watch the Discovery channel instead of Spike TV.

America joined both World Wars after 3 years of conflict, and then only after repeated requests for support from our governments had been denied. We are all grateful that you DID pitch in and add your economic and military might to our own, we may not have won without you.

Lest you forget, it was just one of those Germans who you insult who put your men on the moon, who launched your first satellites and effectively won the Cold War you refer to by proving that the West had greater technology at it's disposal than the communist bloc.

Kuwait was originally part of Iraq, as was Iran in the great nation of Persia, which was a dominant economic power across the middle east and eastern europe before white men had even discovered the Americas. Why do you think the common American term for middle-eastern people is Persian? No-one condones the invasion of that country but do not be so blind as to see why your boys, and many Europeans, "liberated" the country. It is openly admitted in Europe that oil was a major concern in that campaign and that the freedom of the country was a byproduct of that concern.

Kuwait was as much motivated by oil economics as Iraq is now, and yes, since you obviously cannot see beyond your own ill educated nose, Iraq is already a shameful chapter in Americas history. If we listen to fools like you, it may well become your nations downfall. I, for the sake of the many fine, decent people in the USA and the rest of the world, pray this does not come to pass.

Rant all you like, say "fuck you" till you are hoarse, you are being unpleasant and reactionary, and I wish to waste no more of my valuable time teaching you what you would have learned had you listened in school.

Not sure I go completely along with this.

The Roosevelt administration, despite isolationist voter sentiment at the time, met routinely with U.K. leaders and hammered out the Atlantic Charter, Lend-Lease, and the destroyers-for-bases deal long before Dec 7th 1941. The U.S. Navy was trading shots with Doenitz's U-boats during convoy duty in 1940 and 1941. A number of Americans volunteered to fly with RAF during the Blitz.

In the Pacific, "Flying Tigers" volunteer pilots were attacking Japanese aircraft over China. Japanese monetary investments in America were frozen, trade embargos enforced and oil/steel supplies were terminated. These tensions led directly to Pearl Harbor.

The Roosevelt administration pushed as much war support as possible under law. America was classified as a "belligerant nuetral."

It makes me wonder how someone like Tony Blair, who gave one of the best speeches I've heard about the current world situation and clash of civilizations that I've heard to date, got elected in the first place.
you know, i wasn't really sure how much of your previous posts was actual stupidity and how much was straightforward ignorance. i guess the fact that you find tony blair at all convincing pretty much resolves that.

You've got a lot of nerve attacking someone else's typos- have you ever read your own posts?

Oh I know. I'll admit I'm terrible. Where exactly was I attacking Typo's? Other than the 9th instead of 11th I don't think I did. I even let my spell check fix one of his errors.

You also pointed out foresight when his "farsight" was clearly a typo. Two mentions in one post, I just find a lot of typos in your posts and thought it was a funny thing for you to bring up. Kinda sounded like what Bill Clinton said on Jay Leno a while back, that he was constantly being attacked on his personal life because it was pretty hard to complain about his policies or the state of the nation.

I think that pretty well sums up how many of us here, and (finally!) Americans in general are feeling about the current administration, they keep us arguing about minutia so the big stuff can just slide on by. Most people don't read foreign newspapers or really understand the global economy anyway, but they can really sink their teeth into gay marriage or abortion because that's on their intelligence level.

Yeah I did highlight farsight/foresight, being snarky, I forgot. And I really can't claim the highroad on typo's, as I just downloaded the spell check thing last week. (Typo's really bother me, especially my own.) I was just irritated because I was at no point defending the Bush administration's Iraqi policy, just a couple of other things in his post, and was being hit like I had been.

Oh God I'm as bad as Clinton and sex.

after reading all of your opinions, I have to laugh...

I wonder, how ignorant and stupid all those Americans are, who still support their actual "regime"... the plain fact is that they never learned something from history, although easily accessible

As you heard today from your fine president, you'll "stay in Iraq for the years to come" - PERFECT - STAY THERE - KEEP ALL YOUR TROOPS BOUND THERE - because WE DON'T WANT YOU anywhere else! Two thumbs up!

The sad part is that you'll lose a lot lives of your poor soldiers (who are just the sheep who get sacrificed) besides the thousands and thousands of civilians, who get slaughtered.

I might speak what I think, but does ANYONE of YOU move his ass for saving them? Ignorance is the keyword... hint... hint
