The combined economy of the South Bend-Mishawaka and Elkhart-Goshen MSAs had a very strong year of growth in 2017 with total real metropolitan gross domestic product (GDP) exceeding 2016 by $1.6 billion, a rise of 6.3 percent. The majority of this regional growth came from Elkhart-Goshen, which added $1.5 billion in its real GDP, a magical rate of 11.3 percent output growth. Real GDP in the South Bend-Mishawaka MSA only expanded by $71 million, a 0.6 percent increase from 2016. Moreover, compared with real GDP in 2007, aggregate production in South Bend-Mishawaka was still $269 million below its pre-recession peak.

Wow, 2nd best to Elkhart in a 2 horse race.

I always love when out-of-towners chime in with their assessments about stuff like this. He won his second term as mayor with over 80% of the vote. Pretty sure the people who live in South Bend are pretty happy with him.

Nobody the demoRat party has running so far can come close to beating Trump. I wish they would dig a good candidate out of the woodpile so we can have a interesting race. But right now I see no one yet. Still hoping but I'm not holding my breath.
Of course there are no Democrats anymore, just Socialist demoRats and muslim commies who hate Israel and America and want Muslims to control the world.
Never going to happen.

Most Americans wouldn't recognize corruption if it stared them in the face.
Boy that is true. If they did your god Obamamamama would be in prison for life.
MAGA
You actually prove my point exactly - you wouldn't recognize corruption if it stared you in the face - the only thing your corrupt president is doing is to make america grate!

The fact that you don't like any of the Democratic candidates is the most hopeful thing I've heard so far.

I am sad to say; just one more reason Mr Trump has an excellent chance of being re-elected. The Democratic party, will be split into so many specialty groups; and sub divisions, that even once there is a front runner, people will vote against him / her out of pure spite, if they vote at all.

2020 presidential election. 2020 candidates. Timeline of presidential announcements. Democrats. Cory Booker. Pete Buttigieg. Julian Castro. John Delaney. Tulsi Gabbard. Kirsten Gillibrand. Kamala Harris. John Hickenlooper. Jay Inslee. Amy Klobuchar. Wayne Messam. Beto O'Rourke. Bernie Sanders. .

To be honest, I sort of like Stacey Abrams.

Whoever we select to be the Democratic nominee for president will need all the Democrats to fall in line and support the nominee 100 %. Get out the independent vote. Give what you can. I give a very small amount, but it is on automatic draft. Over time, it begins to add up.

We Democrats need to remember that we can not win without having the Independents with us. We can't forget that even for one second. It is that critical to keep on focus front and center. Independents will elect the president in 2020. Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats have enough voters to elect the president by themselves.

I am for the Democratic candidate that can win a majority of the Independent vote. Pure and simple. I don't care who is the Democratic candidate as long as they win. It is that important to get Trump out of office. The Democrats won't nominate someone worse than Trump. I'm not sure that can even be done!

America is not going to vote for a gay president they will one day but not in 2020. It shouldn’t matter but it will to some people who are traditional and are religious. I will be very surprised if President Trump is not re-elected because the economy is doing so well.

People voted for an adulterer rapist but you think gay monogamist is out of bounds?

I'll put it this way: Just because I didn't want Hillary to be president doesn't mean that I was against a woman being president. Just because I don't (think I) want Butte...Buttige....Mayor Pete, doesn't mean I'm against a gay president. But I don't think he's the guy to be the gay president.

That. And that any challenge to him, and his platform, will be twisted into a blanket sweeping, anti-conservative, hate based, right wing extremist, anti-gay response by the left. At the same time, nor should there be a knee jerk, auto-support from some simply for his being the gay candidate. And yes, I’m fully aware there will be those on both sides against or for him specifically for that reason.

You know, that whole “best candidate” thingy just don’t matter no more in today’s world.

No one will think that person is anti gay for not supporting Pete unless they are caught saying things like, "Gays aren't really normal","Gay people should just try to be like everyone else", "The gay lifestyle is so strange", and "America just wanted someone regular (as if gay people aren't regular)".

Just as someone who opposed Obama wouldn't look racist unless they had a habit of saying and embracing things that showed favoritism of white over black.

Just as someone who opposed Hillary wouldn't look sexist unless they regularly tried to minimize women in society.

The people who are not going to vote for a Democrat because he is gay are not going to vote for a Democrat - period.

I'm not buying it. Eventually, there will be a single Democratic nominee. Against Trump. 'Nough said.
