Online is great - I even buy gear from the US because it's usually much cheaper than retail in Oz - but don't you think it is exciting to make a special find at a bargain price in Macys or Marshalls?

eg. I got a pair of these for around $US6 at Macys, North Michigan Ave, Chicago during a recent trip - at that price, and that far from home, who cares what the cashier thinks!

haha condoms are just as bad. but i mean, at least they know im getting laid when im buying condoms haha

Or that you are one of those poor, sad, but ever hopeful people who check the "use by" date on the pack because they don't want to make a wasteful purchase :biggrin1:

If someone is paying attention to and judging your choice of underwear than that person needs to get a life. I like it when there's a female cashier because if she's really paying attention (cause chances are a cashier is gonna be counting how many hours or minutes are left to his/her shift,) then it's embarrassing for her - if anything. And for me, I'm the just a liitttttllleee turned on wondering if she is imagining me wearing them (unless she's way older than me.) Other than that it's like buying a sandwich at the deli.

But people buy underwear all the time... a normal, everyday occurrence. It shows that your mommy doesn't do it for you, haha!

And if you're buying a strange/erotic pair, you're probably in a store that specializes in that kinda stuff. In that case the cashier is comfortable enough to deal with it on an everyday level.

wow...if buying underwear weirds you out this much...imagine how it is when you buy condoms!

I was wondering about that, but you beat me to it.

When queueing up for check-out, everyone can see what you are buying, even the cashier. I've never seen anyone buying condoms, but I suppose that someone must buy then else they wouldn't keep them in stock. I know that I'd feel uncomfortable buying them at either a pharmacy or at a grocery store, but perhaps I'm the only one.

As for buying underwear, I've never even wondered what people might think.

I don't care what the cashier thinks but I definatly cared in high school when changing. I liked the way briefs felt but everyone else (literally) wore boxers. My solution then was to wear boxers over my briefs, and then I found boxer-briefs :)

this may seem weird, but does anyone feel weird when checking out when youre buying underwear in a store? like waiting in line people see what kind youre buying. or even the cashier checking you out. does anyone get weird about it or wonder what people think when they see you buying a particular kind of underwear

No. Everyone has to buy it, so why be bothered by it?

Also - I doubt that most people care what size or brand undies you purchase.

We just met a guy who works at an underwear store in the Castro. He said he gets tired of all the people that come out of the changing room to ask him his opinion of their selection. He says if they ask, he tries and upsells them.

That's why I buy my underwear online.

i much more prefer to buy expensive underwear from a dude simillar to me/my age than a woman

I've never thought twice about what others think when I buy underwear. Why would they even pay attention? Most of us wear underwear. I'd find it much more embarrassing to by condoms in a store. Most pharmacies and supermarkets have condoms, but I've never noticed them going through a checkout.

I get sort of embarrassed when I buy the string bikini by Jockey at Wal-Mart. Same way when I used to buy bikini briefs. Condoms are usually a ask for in the pharmacy department and you have to pay for them there and not at the check out registers. If condoms were on the store shelves, they would never make it to the check out registers. The five finger discount. ha-ha.

If it's the underwear section other people are probably there buying underwear too. And the cashier sells underwear for a living so he/she sure is used to seeing people buying underwear. So, no, I don't feel awkward that people around me know what kind of underwear I'm buying.

Other people in the underwear section make me nervous too... Lol
