Yesterday, I watched a movie called "Call me by your name". It's such a romantic story between Elio and Oliver, but it has such a sad ending. Have you watched it? If so what have you learned from that movie?

Not only a fine multi-award-winning movie but the novel upon which it is based is a great read too.

There's a sequel in the works .....
I wonder if they'll deviate from the disappointing book...

Anyway, I definitely enjoyed "Call Me By Your Name." It's a beautiful coming-of-age film set in sun-soaked Italy. What's not to like?

Unpopular opinion: The fact that the people who fell in love were two men didn't matter to me. Had it been a man and a woman, two men, or two women, I probably would have still enjoyed the movie.

I think that was the point in the end, to show that love is the same for all of us no matter who we are attracted to. which is why it was so important that it was 2 men because for so long the gay experience was summed up as grinder hookups and back-alley sex clubs by society and the media.

Haven't seen it yet, but I would like to. I was at TIFF where it premiered and I sat in on a live interview with Armie and Timothee.

I loved Broke Back Mountain which has a similar theme I assume.

I love call me by your name but it’s lowkey problematic in a lot of ways.. in the story Eilo is 17 and Oliver is 24. That’s not really an issue but the actors casted kinda are, Oliver looks 35 and Eilo looks 17. It’s kinda weird to look at. Also, the author of cmbyn is a pedophile I-... but yeah overall it is a really beautiful film. And in the book there’s a scene where they basically shit on top of each other’s shit LMFAO

It’s far less tragic compared to BBM, although Elio’s heartbreak sears the soul.
