Long time lurker, finally decided to post based on some "trouble" I've been having this season.

I've been cycling for 3 years now and for some reason this year I'm having a lot of trouble with my gentlemans sausage (for all you TG fans) and balls getting in the way. My balls are definitely on the large side so I'm very careful to position things just so at the start of my ride but without a doubt eventually they get in the way and I end up sitting to the left or right of the seat. This screws up my posture and has actually contributed to a lot of lower back pain while riding because my posture is out of whack now while protecting the goods.

There must be other cyclists on this site that have experienced the same problem.

What cycling shorts/pants have you found work best? Did switching saddles help, a cup, anything? After my ride yesterday I told my roommate I was taking the week off due to back pain which all stems from my poor posture due to my junk getting in the way.
 
put on your lycra bike shorts and pull them up all of the way until the padding is snug against your crotch. The waistband will be much higher than where your jeans normally are. Get on the saddle then discretely reach in and pull Johhny and the twins forward and up. Everything should stay in place for the duration of your ride. I have a stocky build and find bib shorts to be much more comfortable.
 
I've recently gotten into cycling more and had a similar problem before getting good shorts with the padded crotch/bottom. Jockbear is right about what to do though. As long as you pull everything up out of the way once you're mounted, you'll be good to go.

Stocky guy here myself - 5' 11", 195lbs, 36" waist. I switched to some Santini bib shorts this season and other than the junk problem they're worlds better than standard waistband shorts.

Having to stop and occasionally walk across a street is what ruins it for me and when you're riding in a group its hard to sneak in an adjustment. All in all I might need to try a different kind of bib short though for something with more hold.

I have some Performance Ultra bibs which are plenty comfortable to ride in but my stuff falls down a bit when I walk around off of the bike. I also have a pair of DeMarchi bibs which don't seem to require much adjusting. Different makers and models for shorts fit differently according to body type. Since bike shorts are not made for walking around I don't mind that some adjustment may be required. You can swiftly do a reach in and tug up and few will catch you. Most who so see you won't care because they understand. Either they have ball to or know someone who does.
 
An anatomically correct seat is a help for overall comfort, but not necessarily for the problem stated above. My preferred brand of cycling shorts / bibs is Pearl Izumi. They work best for me. Regardless of how well the shorts fit, you're going to need to adjust periodically. My commute to work is 15 miles each way. Just before I mount the bike, I pull my balls and dick up and away from the crotch. About every 5 miles, I'll take advantage of a red light and reach in and lift junior and the twins. I'm beyond caring who sees. I try to be discreet, but the adjust has to happen. Otherwise, the Pearl Izumi shorts have proven to be comfortable on 50 mile rides. When I finish, there is no crotch soreness at all.
 
Hmmm, letting my boys ride side-saddle usually works for me. I cycle a lot (like, a lot a lot) and I used to get real soreness both from my nuts and from my perineum after long and/or bumpy rides. The best solution for me was some extensive seat shopping. I found a seat that really supported my glutes while having a big cut-out in the perineal area and a rather narrow point to the seat. I also cycle with pretty loose shorts (or pants in cold weather) and no undies, so everything naturally finds where it's happiest. Usually the boys end up in the cut-out or over one side or the other. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has long since gone out of business and my seat is starting to show wear...

There are still times that it's a problem, though, for whatever reasons. I find that giving them a break by standing up a bit while I pedal up hill works well. I also tend to sit way back on the seat so that the cut-out is more of a ball rest than it is for the perineum.

I'm sure there are cycling shorts designed to help with these matters, but anything tight around there causes me pain, so I steer clear of them. I'm afraid I don't have any helpful advice about clothing choices.

Try a "nose-less" saddle.
All the 'regular' saddles put pressure on your perineum/soft tissue (taint) regardless of bike shorts, this is obviously not good and can lead to problems down the road. Even the saddles with the cutout down the middle, they still have the nose which is no good.

I have one and they are awesome! No more soreness/numbness after a long ride. They take a few rides to get used to, as all your weight will be supported by the 'sit bones' rather than your soft tissue, but once you get used to it, you'll never go back to a traditional saddle. I do not have an affiliation with this company, obviously, they are just great products and I can't ever imagine going back to a traditional bike saddle, ever.

I stand up most of the time while riding my bike
 
After dealing with uncomfortable shorts I picked up some at the high end of Pearl's line. They are much more comfortable than anything else I've tried (but there are a lot i have not). Put them on. Adjust the goods before getting on the saddle and enjoy the ride.

If you get numbness from the ride try something like the adamo. The seat looks weird but works so well.

Adamo are great but I prefer a Specialized Toupe saddle. Numbness is dangerous and means you need proper bike fit.
 
I cant stand padded bike shorts!! I have found 2XU compression shorts to do the trick. Just get on the bike and pull your cock and balls to wherever its most comfy and they usually stay there. A proper stance on the bike is pretty critical as well. Seat height and angle can for sure make or break the ride. Riding down on the bars more or on aeros versus straight up takes some weight off the saddle. CK makes boxer briefs with a pouch that works quite well for running but not as good for cycling.
 
First, you have to be fitted properly for your bike...i.e. saddle height and position forwards or backwards, stem length and heighth That makes a world of difference. I have a 7" flaccid cock and big balls but I think Ive calloused them up from riding so many miles. haha!
