Callum Scott Howells

I'm currently watching him on "the way" so I thought I'd check up on him and saw he was in a heterosexual relationship ngl I also assumed he was very gay. But I totally love and respect the fact people are also bringing light to this whole "queer" toppic but people within our community go along with it and if you don't go along with it like part of the trans debate you're a bigot.

Anyone can identify as queer. It doesn't mean anything.

Makes a total mockery of all those who were (and continue to be) persecuted because of their sexuality.
No, it doesn't. Queer means politically something totally different than gay or bisexual... It's subversive, anti-patriarchy and so on. It's against oppressive structures of power.

But you can identify as queer and gay/bisexual at the same time right? Seriously asking. Sometimes I get confused!

Queer is literally shorthand for "not straight". sure some people use it stupidly on occasion but it's 98% of the time used by lgbt identifying people. It's silly to suggest otherwise based on no actual evidence. Be serious.

Such nonsense. By this metric a straight person could identify as queer and then the term becomes even more meaningless. Queer theory irrationality. Smh.

Yes that is the true. Queer is often just a shorthand for gay/bi people who either don't like those hard line labels or are maybe more fluid than those labels imply. So they simply use that term.

But plenty of people use gay/queer interchangeably.

Maybe once. But not anymore. It's been completely and utterly hijacked and diluted.

Being old I really don't see the point in reclaiming words, its like someone wants their own n-word. Young people use it very differently, my understanding is its anything between gay and straight. somewhat like the gender identity nonbinary. At the end of the day people can call themselves whatever they like, I will be polite because its the path of least resistance. I really doubt Callum will ever be at a party I will attend so he is not my problem. I am happy he is being a little fur ball, there is a lot of pressure for little starlets to depilate.
