I can assure you that even as a guy the constant requests to show your cam are quite an annoyance. Within minutes of being in the room I go from "Oh this will be fun" to "GO AWAY" and I know that the volume of people watching me is likely lower than for the women. (Edit, this is largely because while typing to someone, and I write quite a lot, a cam prompt seems to force my cursor out of the text box.)
I've had people spend hours trying to get into my pants when I'm clearly uninterested, but at the same time only one interaction with a woman on this site has produced a positive result after a single polite request. A polite but repeated set of queries has worked far better, and not for lack of interest either but because there seems to be a deluge of jerks that you need to distance yourself from before even being considered. As such I'm kind of caught, as I don't want to be a persistent jerk and I very much want to 'get the hint', but I also don't want to miss out on opportunities because there are super amazing people here.

I've found that some of the issues with respect to webcam quality and refresh rates can be circumvented by being creative with positions and your repertoire. Switching angles frequently is also important. This, however, means that you need to be putting on a SHOW rather than just jerking your dick off.
And quite frankly that's hard.

There is no doubt you are better to watch because you TRY to be better to watch. Most guys have never watched other guys or they refuse to listen to the feedback they are given. Most guys are turned down a lot when they come here to be watched by women, the strongest ones survive. Not the most persistent, but the most proficient.
