Forgive me if this is a stupid topic, but I don't have a lot of sexual experience and am still learning the ropes.

So last night I had a few to drink and met a hookup on Grindr and we proceeded to make out and stuff. However, because I was kinda drunk (but still aware of the situation), we limited it to oral sex and mutual masturbation. I sucked the guy off but he came on my chest, and there was no anal penetration involved. However, I do have a very small sore on the top corner of my gum that barely hurts, and we did wipe our cums off with the same towel. So does that mean the chances of me getting HIV is small, and that this doesn't require me to go to the hospital for a PEP pill?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Also he had some blood on his shower floor that he forgot to clean up that I didn't see until I stepped on it.

I'm not a doctor, so take this with some skepticism. However based on my knowledge of transmission rates and pathways, the mouth sore thing is a minor risk. While instances of transmission via oral sex are extremely rare, they're not completely unheard of. However, most of those incidents had a lot of factors at play far beyond a minor irritated spot in your mouth. Coming on your chest, sharing a towel, blood that you step in in bare feet on a floor, those are all vanishingly small risks, even less than your spot on your gums.

With all of that said, you should probably investigate getting on PrEP if this sort of situation causes you concern. And if you are truly afraid, go for PEP, which in most cases will just be the same Truvada regimen given the low risk scenario you present. If you'd gotten stuck with a bloody needle, or he was known to be HIV+ and not under any form of treatment, or you bottomed unprotected, etc. then PEP might include an additional medication along with Truvada. But those are higher risk scenarios.

Good luck!

I agree with the poster above. Transmission is not easy with the behaviors you did. I dated a HIV positive man long term, and I did not catch it. The virus, as I understand it, cannot live outside the body. So if he came on your chest, it would not be able to survive, and it didn't have a entry point. . I was told once, by a doctor, that if you had a tooth pulled, you could get the virus through that entry point, as it would be a deep wound until it healed. But a sore spot, or scratch would be a difficult entry point. . I'm not saying its not possible, but highly unlikely. If this was me, I would not worry about it. But as the poster above said, if you are freaked out, you can follow the steps he laid out. Best of luck to you on any direction you take.

Ask a doctor, perhaps your family practitioner or else a sexual health professional.

As a layman - as well as a gay-man - I further agree with what winesthel945.
I hope you'll be fine.
