I've been taking L-ARGININE for about a month now about 2000mg a day, and at first the effects were great. Rock hard erections, shorter "recovery" time between orgasims, etc. But now it takes me for-ev-er to cum. Sometimes I wont be able to at all or have to consintrate on "cumming" ver hard to be able to. Girl friend is getting pissed off because she can't make me cum! Help! Should i stop taking L-ARGININE or take more or what?

L-arginine, Nitric Oxide And Sexual Health

It needs to be emphasized that L-arginine is not a hormone and it is not testosterone. L-arginine is an essential amino acid. When properly brought into the body it can cross the blood-brain barrier to signal the hypothalamus to naturally trigger the pituitary gland to produce growth hormone. This is the key to eliminating any negative side effects.

L-arginine and Its Dark Side!
Because of its huge potential to aid people, L-arginine supplements have populated the shelves of many health food stores, pharmacies and websites. Now, before you go out and start buying L-arginine supplements you need to be aware of the dark side of this amino acid. L-arginine ingested in its pure form tastes terrible. It will simply go into the stomach, then into the intestinal tract and gut negating must of its benefits. By itself L-arginine can also have some serious side effects like:

• Increasing free radical brain damage.
• Activation of the herpes simplex virus.
• Reduced sperm motility.

That is why L-arginine is also called “the double-edged sword.”

Because the L-arginine molecule is a blind amino acid it must be attached to a rider. This rider will properly direct it to the area in the body where it will have an impact. To be effective, L-arginine must utilize a low-glycemic method. Research has shown that high-glycemic ingredients like maltodextrin, sucrose, table sugars, dextrose, glucose, honey, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, and fruit juice interfere with L-arginine absorption.

There are also agents or antagonists that directly compete with L-arginine to block its health benefits. These antagonists include lysine, ornithine, proteins, amino acids, high glycemic sugars, synthetic sweeteners, and ingredients and flavor systems made with high glycemic ingredients.

Funny that you should post this! I have been trying L-arginine for a few weeks, and I have been noticing the same thing -- I mean the slowness to orgasm, not all the positive stuff. I think that it's time for me to stop taking the stuff.

If it were me, I'd double the dose and become a porn star!

Serious answer now -- Sorry I can't help you, never tried it. But I will say I have come to the conclusion that supplements affect everyone differently. I have friends that swear by creatine, and others who swear it only gives you expensive urine.

I think they are both right. The ones who were deficient in certain things got great results from creatine. The ones that weren't deficient in whatever metabolites creatine breaks down to, got no results.

Anyway, I just say this so you'll get as much advice as you can but keep in mind someone else's experience will not necessarily predict yours. Good luck!

I'm or Arginine 3500 mg and my erections are more powerful than ever. I can shoot like never before. You should cycle L-arginine 30 days on 30 days off. I take it 30 minutes before workout and before bed. My 2 cents !

Of course you should stop taking it! Duh! It's affecting your ability to ejaculate. Why would you take more? So that you can never cum again?

Please stop! Clearly this is not the great cure-all for everyone.

Yup, that's Lexapro. It gave me back the desire for sex but I couldn't climax to save my life. :irked: Fortunately with Effexor XR I have desire and ability to orgasm back.

I took some L-arginine for about 3 weeks, and noticed my face breaking out(acne). I also noticed a slight ache on either side, probably the kidneys, so I threw this shit away. I noticed no change sexually.

in the summer, 2007, I took some DHEA for about the same time period, and noticed a slight ache on either side, and the acne problem. I did notice that my erections were quicker to rise, and hard as a rock, and recovery time between erections was much faster. an early morning (2am) screw session with the wife in which I had 2 erections made her happy. the next morning she went to "pet" my cock, sort of a thank you, and it got hard in a second, and then super rock hard and erect, prompting her to say "you are huge" as she pulled my briefs off and admired my cock. and no, this is not a story. we went back into the bedroom and she sucked me for several minutes, stopped and admired my manhood. I wanted her to measure me, but she said she didn't want to know, "it was big enough". she got on top and rode the fat boy. she did not know anything about what I was taking. I stopped taking it reluctantly, as the side pain increased and the initial effectiveness lessened. it just wasn't worth the risk. I threw that away also.

Not everyone can take DHEA especially if you have high blood pressure or any sort of kidney problem. L-arginine is the chemical precusor to Minoxidil.

Try something natural but do a bit of reading on the side effects before trying and consulting with your MD.
