This is to redirect a thread that touched on capitalism as an evil system. Nothing could be further from the truth. All other systems are proven losers and failures, cept for good ol' capitalism. The incredible ease of life we have now relative to 150 years ago is overwhelming. I look around and can't believe how easy we have it. All due to the freedom of our economic system and the way it brings talent, capital, and opportunity together. The fact that we can communicate in a flash by computer world wide is simply mind boggling.

America is about the only country except for maybe China and now Brazil, where a person can move up the economic ladder thru hard work. Europe is calcified, almost a dead world. If you know of a place other than the above, where your dreams can be realized let us know that place.

Someone said I sound nouveau riche. Damn right!!!! Its the best kind, money earned by hard work. Hard work pays off in America. What a great country in which to realize a dream.

The people who say this are often not self employed. They look to have their benefits handed to them from jobs. I appreciate capitalism. If i became rich from my own ideas and gave people jobs for it...i wouldnt want anyone taking that away because they want to socialize it.

I set my own rate of pay, decide to bust my ass to build my business and i pay higher taxes for my self employment status. If i make more money than my neighbor its my business.

Capitalism is actually new, and it is failing. Capitalism teaches short-term gains over long-term consequences. The United States is the world's prime exponent of capitalism, and it is also the world's prime exponent of destruction of the environment. The US is 20% of the world's population, but it creates about 60% (or more) of the world's pollution.

This is a great video on the topic, explaining that Capitalism is a terrible system: YouTube - Noam Chomsky: Is Capitalism Making Life Better?

But then I feel stupid having a serious discussion with a picture of my cock right next to my words. This discussion is SO for another forum entirely.

You quote Noam Chomsky??!!

You ever read his stuff? I have. It's wack, bizarre. He isn't exactly a credible source.

Capitalism failing? You could not even be on this website without capitalists Bill Gates, the boys/girls at capitalist Intel, Michael Dell, AT&T, Cisco, Steven Jobs.

You think all the technology that allows you to have the most incredible of lives grew on trees? The Soviets and communism didn't do it. Socialism did not do it. Monarchies did not do it. Most but not all was good old American *can do* capitalism. We have air travel cause of the Wright brothers. The electric light because of Thomas Edison. Mass production because of Henry Ford. Cheap basic stuff cause of Sam Walton.

Capitalism is a slippery slope to rising gas prices. Overpriced electronics. Rising food costs. Increasing unemployment rates...shall I continue?

Ummmm, there would be NO consumer electronics w/o capitalism. And over priced? Relative to what? A few years ago plasma flat screens were $13000. Now you can get a nice Vizio at Walmart for $600. Thats overpriced??!!! My parents bought a crappy color TV for $300 years ago. You had to turn the channel by hand. Consumer electronics is dirt cheap, DIRT CHEAP.

Gasoline is expensive due to monetary policy. The Fed is trying to *socially engineer* interest rates. Socialism. Raise interest rates and watch oil plummet in cost.

BTW suggest an alternative. Communism? Dead and buried. Socialism? On life support with hardly a pulse.

Chomsky has 20 honorary doctorates from around the world. He is the world's most quoted living author. He is referred to as the Einstein of linguistics. And the only reason those corporations you mention are succeeding is because of their unconscionable exploitation of people from around the world, whether it be paying peasants in other countries pennies per hour, or shipping US jobs overseas. (And we might want to consider if they are really "succeeding" just because they have big bank accounts. That money isn't going to do much good when the air is unbreathable, or when the world is annihilated in a war backed by the US corporations -- the Iraq war, for example, which has put human survival in danger.)

Bill Gates became a billionaire because he used technology developed at the Pentagon, technology paid for by the US tax payers.

You need to do some research.

But, again, I feel stupid debating a serious topic like this on a website devoted to cocks. It's a bit surreal.

Socialism is dead and buried because the US killed it, or because the people who practiced it were actually just practicing a form of capitalism while calling it "socialism."

And he forgot that Europe is the largest economy in the world.

Well, if you think the American version of capitalism is best, good for you.
I'll stick with the Western-European/Canadian version: earning €15/hr ànd get free schools and hospitals.

overpriced electronics?

What I bought as a stereo system in 1980 for $500 can now be bought for $200--same quality and more gizmos. And that doesn't even include inflationary tracking.

As you often are.

Honorary doctorates aren't often viewed as the real thing.

Bill Gates didn't even think up the code that was initially the origins of Basic. He bought it from someone.
