So...What you are saying is the Republicans had a healthcare plan and Obama copied it.
This is one element within a larger plan. Yes it was Republican in origin. Honestly though, considering Obama didn't just write the bill himself and told Congress to come up with a bipartisan solution, I think it speaks volumes to how uncooperative Republicans were that almost none of their ideas are in the final bill.

Obama's healthcare reform that he passed won't work...
Oh, you're all for saying Obama ripped off the Republicans a moment ago, but now that you want him to fail it's Obama's reform again?

The Republicans didn't cooperate with Obama's and Pelosi's madness. All of the Democrat bills were garbage which explains why the American people did not support it long after it passed and why Obama's numbers and the Democrat numbers remain low.

Obama's bill IS Obama's reform. And that's right...it won't work because it is garbage and the American people know it.

Obama's bill IS Obama's reform.
lololol... Newsflash: Obama is president, not a legislator...

The only thing Obama came out and said was that the bill Congress crafted needed to cover most if not all of the uninsured, needed to close some very obvious regulatory holes (namely rescission and pre-existing conditions), and could not grow the deficit over time... The bill sent to him by Congress achieves those goals, so he signed it.

If the Republicans had a better plan to achieve these very simple, universally accepted goals, then WHERE IS IT?

It's called Obamacare for a reason. Obama acknowledged the Republican plans and a majority of the American people rejected Obamacare after it was passed.

Yeah, because opponents of reform had no compelling plan of their own to offer and reverted to childish name calling and stomping their feet like the spoiled brats they are.

lololol... Btw, thanks for proving that point quite succinctly.

You have made no point that was proved succinctly. You lack the ability to make a good point.

One more time so you get it...It's called Obamacare for a reason.

Yeah, because calling it N*****care would be too much of a tell about your real character.

Damn, I knew I shouldn't have watched that Paul Mooney video before coming on the board tonight. :biggrin1:

They SHOULD get a penalty assessed to them. If they dont have health insurance, they let preventable issues fester, until they have to go to the ER and get their issue treated. Since they have no way to pay for their treatment, and since hospitals MUST treat them by law, the hospitals treat them anbd simply pass on the cost of treatment to those who do have insurance and are able to pay. Tough shit, trinity. No sympathy here.

That is laughable. The vast majority of Americans have a hard time reading a newspaper, they didn't all miraculously decide to read a piece of legalese that is over 1000 pages long. The opinion of most people in this country, Democrat or Republican, is based solely on the propaganda in the media about the bill. Seeing people spout off about how a public option is socialized medicine and how the bill has death panels mentioned in its text is proof enough of that.

In my opinion, madness is deciding to support a party that has admitted the current system is not sustainable, but would choose to play political games at your expense rather than fix it. I've been a big supporter of many Republicans in the past, but the current ones on Capitol Hill really need to extract their heads from their collective ass.

Yes, it's called Obamacare because the Republicans are still trying to run politically off of making everyone fear the healthcare legislation. They want it to be tied to Obama, who really had very little to do with what went into the bill, so they can attack his political credibility as well. Calling the healthcare plan Obamacare is merely an attempt to polarize and keep their political base's support against it by constantly shoving it in their faces that, whether good or ill, it is a Democrat plan.

By the way, Glenn Beck (being one of Fox News' talking heads) has been one of the big people criticizing the healthcare reform. But it would probably surprise many to see he hasn't always been this way.

Gotta love that man's ability to spin 180 on command.
