If there is an actual single person being referred to in these rumors, and the rumors turn out to be true, I doubt sincerely that it's Charlie Sheen. Never an A-list actor, and certainly not recently. Also it seems as if the person is a movie star. I don't think Charlie Sheen has been a film headliner since The Mighty Ducks. The rumors seem to imply that the actor in question is A) a major motion picture star; B) tremendously promiscuous over a long period of time, and C) a significant substance abuser. Could be anyone of a large number of actors. While I don't normally advocate "outing" someone in any sense, if this person is real and still sleeping around, someone who knows his identity really should go public with the information. The social and career concerns of an actor do not merit the public health consequences in this situation. And yes, he will get sued for every penny he has, if he knowingly infected anyone without informing them of his HIV status. And he could go to jail. Should go to jail, in my opinion.

Lastly, it should be remembered that lots of non-celebrities have had STDs, including HIV, and continued to sleep around without informing people or using condoms. Lesson: make him use a condom, regardless of whether you are male or female. Even with great treatment available and often (but not always) effective, HIV is still awful. ONLY YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PROTECTION. Alright, enough preaching...

it is interesting though. I mean, I agree, Charlie Sheen is not an A list actor but I can't think of another celeb with such a notorious sex life. Sheen was banging porn stars, prostitutes and doing copious amounts of drugs and he's presumably HIV neg. He dodged a bullet, so what is this other guy doing?

Eddie Murphy and Hugh Grant were arrested for picking up Transexuals. I personally don't get the whole trans thing, but to each his own.

I think if you're having unprotected sex with transexuals and needle drug users, you're playing russian roulette.

As Bill Maher said, "nowadays you really have to WANT to get HIV to get it."

The fact is, if you're a straight man who is not an IV drug user, your odds are EXTREMELY low...

From what I have seen online, there has been speculation for over a year that Sheen was HIV.

On one level,I dislike this kind of speculation, I do not think it is right that someone should have these kind of things said about them, especially If not true. Everyone is entitled to a private life, even celebrities
On the other hand, if there is truth to the story that an A list celebrity has been living with HIV and having unprotected sex with unknowing partners, then they deserve all that they get.

If it does turn out to be Sheen then the bizarre statements he made inn television interviews when he was having his meltdown, suggesting that he was a "warlock" with "tiger blood" and "Adonis DNA", will really come back to haunt him even more.
 
All very interesting. I agree with all the above posts. I don't like the speculation either. And it MAY not even be true. But it does bring up many interesting sociological and biological issues.

Magic Johnson brought a great deal of positive awareness to the disease. And if someone who is a famous actor has it, could continue to bring awareness to an important condition.

It still says a great deal about the inherent judgment and shame of our culture.
 
I guess another reason Sheen would surprise me is that it wouldn't be at all surprising. The rumors have an aura of shock about them. Regardless, I hope the rumors are just that, and there is no such man-whore willfully endangering the larger community. Sadly, it is entirely possible that the originator of the rumors is having fun with us because so many different actors could fit the description.
