chat room, messenger ect..

anyone know of a place to go to actually talk/cyber with someone say on a messenger or in chat room? somewhere with actual people not bots? where i am, consistent privacy is an issue. there are other people in and out of my room most of the time so cams/mics and that sort of thing are not a great option..
