Okay ladies, and gents (I suppose you guys might be able to answer this too :biggrin1 why is it that some men on this site when they start chatting with you and find out that you're a 'real' person (i.e. not on here to pick up men) seem embarrassed by their pics after they begin to chat with you and form friendships? There seems to be a lot of support, chatting and fun on here (as well as some pretty heavy arguments...cough...cough... I mean, discussions ) so why is it assumed that the women on here are looking to hook up? Or is it? What's your experience been so far?

I have nothing to be embarrassed about even if I did have pictures
I just figure the women are nice people if they say "Hi".
I don't hang out in chat

I have trouble figuring women out

Because in real life you don't get to see someone's, ahem, intimate parts unless you're in an intimate relationship with them. When the men (that you are referring to) are in a general conversation, i.e. off the site title topic or related topics, they find themselves more or less naked - exposed if you will - to the conversation partner... akin to being naked in front of you in reality. It is neither conventional nor orthodox and hence the embarrassment.

Yes, actually it does...but (you had to know there would be one....) if they have naked pics up, and this is a forum for talking/chatting, and then they go the step further to email women....uh, then why the embarrassment? Is it the same thing? That, oh, wow, I'm naked, she's not? And we're chattin?

And yes, it is a bit odd for me, as well, to chat, knowing I can (whenever I want) check out my chatting partners naked pics.

I did say 'some men' hoping this would spur answers beyond the all men aren't some...lol, I should have known it wouldn't be that easy!

because many of the individuals who ask to chat view this in the same way they do pornography and any woman here is seen as tantamount to whore .So it is open season. Many feel no compulsion to observe the normal boundaries since they probably will never meet you.

Perhaps they expected explicit content in the conversation to begin with and so their naked pictures fit right into the context of the conversation while what actually happens is a conversation similar to what they would have with a random nice person on the street or at the bar and suddenly the naked pictures are totally out of context. A little bit like those dreams where you're naked in public and everybody else is staring I suppose.

LPSG website is a reflection of society in general. Unfortunately it appears many contributors are hell bent on perpetuating negative prejudices. One only has to visit Chat to see the appalling bad manners of many. I do not mean healthy heated debate and playful joshing, but openly predatory oddities who in any other social setting would not be tolerated. Why visit Chat if you are laconic and inarticulate. We all have our pet hates, but is it really necessary to eulogize over and over and over again the attributes of other members. To be blunt, it's bloody embarrassing having guys kissy kiss each other for eons. Go private, or are you trying to prove some political point.

A few civilities, a sense of humour, a self awareness without being egocentric, real discussion, and less pimping and importuning would help.

Alot of people are just natural exhibitionists, it doesn't really come born out of objectifying the other person. I mean, there's a number of women who get naked on the internet as well, it strikes me they're doing it for themselves rather than because they think all men are whores.

I think most of the women here who post nude or semi-nude pics do it to seek male approval. Seeking approval is much different than seeking sex or cyber sex. They just want to be told that they are still beautiful or physically appealing in some way.

I think that was my point - there's nothing wrong with showing yourself off naked. It's liberating, reaffirming - all that good shit. It isn't necessarily an indication of harbouring sexist views, sometimes it just is what it is. I wouldn't assume a man, or a woman for that matter, is objectifying anybody or thinking of anybody in degrading terms because they get their kicks from being naked.
