Having spent some time in Asia I can tell you their reactions. They'd just stare, maybe be slightly offended, but you aren't going to get in any trouble or anything.
Asians don't feel ashamed to gawk at people, being half-asian myself I get stared at in a lot of parts in Asia, it's no big deal.

I dunno too much about China...but I can tell you about Japan. Im 1/4 English 1/4 Dutch 1/4 Japanese 1/8 Hong Kongian 1/8 Maori.
