Actually, neither Nebraska nor Utah is in the snowbelt. The snowbelt's just south of the Great Lakes. Northern winds blow over the Great Lakes, chilling the water vapor and pushing it south. In doing so, though, it turns the water vapor into snow.
So now you know all aboot who's responsible for the hellish New York winter. So if you prefer warm weather, get oot of there!

I hope I didn't offend anyone. I would never claim that Utah winters are comparable to New England or the Great Lake states! But do remember the Wasatch front is also bordered by a large lake and the high deserts get very, very cold.
Actually the coldest I have ever been was in Baytown Texas, outside Houston, sitting on top of a cracking tower (look it up!
