The devastation across the Canterbury region is extensive and dire.

Many good people are working tirelessly to save those still trapped and injured by the extremely violent 6.3 earthquake on Tuesday.

If you want to help your New Zealand brethren, you can.

The link above is the official Red Cross Charity website and has the opportunity to donate to the earthquake relief appeal.

Please, if you want to help, only use the the Red Cross or official organizations channels, shockingly, there are already sites and people out there begging for urgent help that are soulless scammers stealing money!

Any help you feel you could offer, on behalf of those on the long road of recovery, thank you LPSG.

    Love, Pup, x.

I live in Christchurch and literally, the CBD is like a warzone. For many, it's currently like living in a third world city as alot do no have any water, phones, power or sewage - they are telling people to use a bucket or dig a hole in the backyard. My family, friends and house are ok, but it's without a number of those services we're all used to. I've escaped out of the city to family in a town well enough out of the city that you can't feel the aftershocks.

Of course, what I'm going through is nothing compared to those families that have people trapped in the collapsed buildings in the city. It's a very sad time :(

It is extremely sad to see the loss of so many lives of our Kiwi brothers and sisters and the devastation in this beautiful place. I am very proud of the work being done by our Aussie rescue workers, police, and medical staff. I wish them the strength and energy to continue their work and the reward of more lives to be saved.

Please donate to the red cross appeal, and take your next holiday (vacation) there. Don't forget to stop in Queensland Australia on the way!

Just made a contribution to the NZ Red Cross, thanks to your link. Tragedies of this magnitude deserve the support of the global community and I hope the good people of NZ receive it.

I don't live in ChCh, no. I'm on the north island, right in the best spot for the next big one to hit NZ sadly.

I completely understand the feeling of helplessness, hence the original post on here. I've donated but I thought if I could bring even a little awareness to others that might help out, no matter how small, I feel I've helped.

My thanks to all who could and have donated to help NZ.

The Canterbury TV building looks awful. :(
Hope they manage to find a few survivors (unlikely, I guess?).

I've drummed up $US500, I'm onto my friends to do the same or similar. If half of them contribute the same that's got to be several grand. I'm sure they will.

My neighborhood group had a meeting at the school last night and raised over $3000 for Christchurch. We voted to make the donation to the International Red Cross.
