What I don’t understand about these sort of charity giveaways is; who gets to claim the tax deduction? I would say the tax credit goes to the buyer of the shirt but Christian could claim the tax credit for himself if he donates the money in his name.

I'm guessing it's less because he randomly thought people might want to buy his old clothes and more because people already asked to buy his clothes in the past. It's embarrassing that people actually want to buy it... They really have nothing better to use that money on? Geez.
