I am so sorry. I am from Delaware. I am ashamed of the Republican voters in this state who would even think about voting for this idiot. I am almost ashamed of living in Delaware now. God help us if she wins in Nov. There is a whole lot more that is going to come out I am afraid. Dabbling in witchcraft is minor.

I think of all the teabagger Senate candidates, she has the least shot of winning. Delaware is still a Democratic state after all. And you're right, the 'witchcraft' is the tip of the iceberg for this crazy chick.

I wish her and Palin and the whole Tea Party bunch would break off into their own party. The right wing Nazis have hijacked the party since the 80's. There are no moderate Republicans anymore - we're the new DL party.
I don't understand why people who feel this way stay Republicans.

We can file this one under the title, "I told you so".
Not you personally, but this is what went down on LPSG.

Practically every single time people voiced concern about the noise coming from the extreme right through the sect known as the Teabaggers on this board, noted conservatives wrote it off as typical "lib ranting". I won't mention any names but we all know who they are. More interested in embracing the quantity of dissenters and spinning it to reflect their rhetoric instead of the quality of the message, they continued to willingly ignore the warnings as the GOP purity tests and the steady rejection of the moderates continued... or claim that their views didn't represent your own in rather flimsy and feeble ways. All it would have taken was a number of high profile, moderate conservatives to be willing to rustle a few feathers and call out the lunatics for being detrimental to their cause. But even they stayed silent because deep down they loved watching them raise hell and fuel up the Republican base. And this is exactly what happens when you don't keep the nut jobs in your party in check. You get people like Christine O'Donnell, Rand Paul, Carl Paladino, Ken Buck and Joe Miller as its visual representatives. None of the conservatives can blame this one on the "liberal media" either, especially since several of them won't even appear on any station beyond Faux.

I sincerely hope this is a clear sign to rational thinkers as to what is to come if you don't get out there and vote with your brain instead of blindly going with your convictions come this November.

^ On the contrary. In spite of rationalizations about so called "fringe elements" or Bill Maher's characterization (Sunday) of the Tea Party movement as some “monster” having escaped some Republican lair, I've become increasing convinced that

THE TEA PARTY IS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!

They, in fact, represent the quintessential of Republican ideology - in its purest form, unapologetic, unmasked, un-closeted... FINALLY, free and unfettered to speak what's TRULY in their minds and hearts.

Free to express their loathing for all things (in their minds) "un-American". Free to act on their desires to "TAKE AMERICA BACK"... from whom?? From "those people".

"Those people" who (as defined in the Texas Republican Party platform) are (to their way of thinking) some aberration, some usurper of "wholesome family values", someone guilty of sexual desires that are in their minds is nothing short of "criminal". "Those people" who embrace ideologies other that their own narrow perspectives - or who even look a little too different, a little too non-Christian, a little "third worldly", a little "socialistic"...

What a relief it must be for them to be able to finally "come out" or at least, sit quietly by while the more vocal amongst them speak what's in the hearts of most if not all.

"Fringe element", my ass.

Not that I'm coaxing any return, but it has been a while since a certain cellar-dwelling investment strategist has paid us a call.

Jus' sayin'

yeah the Tea Party represents those roughly 20% of hardcore right wingers that have always formed the core of the Republican party.

They've determined the party is not far enough to the right for them so they are trying to totally take it over from anyone with any kind of more reasoned outlook on things.

Exactly...like crack is to cocaine so is the Tea Party is to the Republican Party. Lest the ugly truth be revealed Glenn Beck urged the Tea Partiers to leave their signs at home. In another era they would have had their hoods on as they marched.

Must be more than that, ravenx ... or they wouldn't be chalking up these primary victories.
Maybe 20 percent of all voters of all political stripes ...

I didn't think it would ever happen... but this country NEEEEEEEEEEEEEDS a [edit: true and effective] multi-party system badly.

At least the conservatives have the balls to not tow a party line (a slight exception to Green Partiers).

Yeah that's what I meant.

Out of all voters in the US roughly 20% are these hardcore right wingers who have views like O'donnell which are generally informed by an irrational religious viewpoint.

A bit more than 20% still approved of Bush when he left office, around 20% believe that Jesus will return to earth within their lifetime, etc.

She better keep her eyes skyward, someone may drop a house on her.
If you're going to invoke The Wizard of Oz, I'm afraid that a Republican candidate has already beaten you to the punch--and with considerable style at that (video).

I thought it was funny how conservative pundits (and even some "liberal" ones) have completely glossed over the little part of her life that she devoted to Satan, yet when Obama's book recalls experimenting with various drugs during his youth (and how he learned from those mistakes), these same people STILL insist on bringing it to attention in some feeble attempt at masking him as some immoral, drug-abusing guy that doesn't look like the rest of our presidents.

Really, it's not like I'm surprised that another nutjob made it into politics (we've got a guy down here in Texas who's advocating Texan independence, and our school board chairman wanted to "stand up to experts" who were trying to ruin our kids' education with their "facts" and their "studies" and their "science"), but what I always find the funniest is when the people who are supposed to be informing us just keep doing the exact opposite to protect their own egos and paychecks.

I call dibs on her ruby slippers :biggrin1:

She's already given up the hat n' broom, per her interview on Real Time. If only she hadn't repudiated her "witchy" past, she'd represent the Tea Party's political future. Polls indicate the Wiccan vote is poised to become the largest voting block in America over the next 50 year.

On a serious note, she appears to have used campaign funds to pay her rent, after selling her house to avoid foreclosure, which doesn't say much for her fiscal credentials. OTOH she irritates Rove no end, so she can't be all bad.
