The season is upon us - 24/7 non-stop xmas music stations, every store running the same track of 30 songs. How much can a person take?

Any songs that push you over the yuletide edge?

Rockin' Around the Chrismas Tree makes me want to bite my own nipples off. Everything about that song is annoying. The music, Brenda Lee's voice, her way of singing... and it's catchy so it gets stuck in my head. I HATE HATE HATE that song, and hearing it ONCE a year is way too much, not to mention the 9 million times I've heard it in the last couple weeks.

Dear God YESSS!!! All of these need to be banned!! Horrible, horrible, songs.

I'd like to add to that list, Silent Night. Heresy perhaps, but I've hated that excuse for a funeral dirge since I first heard it.

    My favorites:

    Snow Mister/Heat Miser
Angels We Have Heard on High
    Carol of the Bells
    We Three Kings
    The Holly and the Ivy

Yes, all of those mentioned suck the big one. Elvis fans will hate me for this, but I'm not too partial to Blue Christmas either. My favs:

Happy Christmas - War Is Over (J. Lennon)
    This Christmas - (D. Hathaway)
Little Drummer Boy - (Living Voices version)
    White Christmas - (B. Crosby)
The Christmas Song - (N. King Cole)

One of the three reasons I only go out and about if absolutely necessary this time of year! Most of the attempts to make "hip and modern" xmas music failed miserably.

I guess there are lots of people out there who think really bad music is somehow better if you add "christmas" or "santa" or "reindeer" in the lyrics.

Carol of the Bells makes me want to break things and hurt people.

"Santa Baby" by Ertha (?) Kitt, Madonna and other singers is the one I hate most!

All of them, I can't handle going into yet another supermarket to hear pop pickers rendition of 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day'.

Inexcusably awful: The Christmas Song, "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire Jack Frost nipping at your nose ..."

I can be (and often am) a bit of a scrooge over Christmas, but if you let yourself go, you'll probably enjoy it.
No-one's under any false pretenses about how cheesy, crappy and budget many of these songs are (though this applies to Christmas in general) but if you just stop giving a shit and revel in it, even if you don't feel like it at first, you'll soon be humming along and drumming the handle of your shopping cart with your fingers.
