I fail to see how the hateful act of burning someone's holy book can be compared to building a mosque/community centre in downtown NYC. I don't see a logical connection. The argument that both are legal, but that doesn't make it right, is weak.

The burning is an act of pure hate and ought to be condemned with no ifs, ands, or buts!

I agree with Vince on this.

Saying that, Ground Zero is an emotionally charged area, and planning to build a mosque there was bound to be seen as inflamatory. Saying that, as I understand it, the mosque isn't being built on the site, but two blocks away. Not only that, how many other mosques are there in the area?

I think it's a big mistake to imply that all muslims support terrorist actions. That's like saying all Catholics support the IRA bombings because the people involved were mostly Catholic. The point to remember is that the terrorists are extremists, people like Fred Phelps and his ilk - or more likely people who've been duped by people like him.

Have to agree with that; i think if the healing process is what they were after they would not build it there a little restraint could go a long ways but they have the right to. Hearing alot of different people call in to talk shows on the subject the backers are almost giddy about it and it has nothing to do with healing or bringing communities together. But they have the right, i don't see any good coming from it, but they have the right.

As if burning any holy book is going to provide our country (or the world) any positive justice or supposed freedom over the manipulative powers of religious zealots. On the contrary... Such an act would only provide additional fuel to a zealot's hateful rhetoric.

The same way every person's "reality" differs from one to the next, holy doctrine follows a similar path. Although I can think of several things that are practiced in some religions that need revision, condemning it all doesn't help anyone.

Why do you feel the need to argue and name call me on everything? I'm merely offering a different viewpoint.
Because you have posted in two topics. One which ive poisted a fair bit in and followed, and another i started. Im simply replying to something you made. I never called you names, you baby. Except there.

If you don't like people disagreeing with your viewpoint, then maybe you should think about posting in threads where debate will occur, or atleast put abit more in them rather than two lines.
