ABC News: Exclusive: CIA Station Chief in Algeria Accused of Rapes

Exclusive: CIA Station Chief in Algeria Accused of Rapes
"Ugly American"? Spy Boss Allegedly Drugged Muslim Women, Made Secret Sex Videos

The CIA's station chief at its sensitive post in Algeria is under investigation by the U.S. Justice Department for allegedly raping at least two Muslim women who claim he laced their drinks with a knock-out drug, U.S. law enforcement sources tell ABC News.

Officials say the 41-year old CIA officer, a convert to Islam, was ordered home by the U.S. Ambassador, David Pearce, in October after the women came forward with their rape allegations in September.

Watch "World News with Charles Gibson" TONIGHT at 6:30 p.m. ET for the full report.

The discovery of more than a dozen videotapes showing the CIA officer engaged in sex acts with other women has led the Justice Department to broaden its investigation to include at least one other Arab country, Egypt, where the CIA officer had been posted earlier in his career, according to law enforcement officials.

The U.S. State Department referred questions to the Department of Justice, which declined to comment.

You have got to love the morally bankrupt individuals that man the C.I.A. Obviously there are plenty of perfectly moral people in the C.I.A., but the core of the clandestine services involves some rather unsavory activities.

I don't find this story shocking, but merely amusing... I mean, the shit that the C.I.A. does on a regular basis... and they wanna arrest this guy on two rape charges? lol!!!

    • Eh, moral personal character like this is everywhere Tri. An employee at software manufacturer or Home Depot or whatever has probably done the same thing.
    • It's the CIA.. which at least in foreign countries... noone knows who vs say the military which is in uniform...
    • ....however, it's not good for US sentiment... a few bad apples.
    • do take note: the perpetrator is a Muslim himself.
    • It's under Obama's watch, so... can I go "Sargonian20" or "Mindseyeian" and throw this in the spreadsheet of "Everything_Under_Obamas_Term_Is_His_Fault.xls"??????
There's that small picture, and he doesn't seem to have that Jason Bourne thing goin' on either... no wonder why he did what he did...

When Obama nominates Michael Hayden's replacement, we'll talk.

But really, I don't know what you're thinking. My spreadsheet is Everything Bad Under Obama's Term Is Still Bush's Fault.

 Nah, I'll wait one more week

Curious if there is anything good... you don't see much porn come out of the middle east... and what tends to be labeled as "Middle Eastern Chick Gets _______ By ______ and ________ With _______"... is really just a Brazilian flick.

I saw this story on the ABC News website a few hours ago (before a thread here) and I thought to myself: (true story!) "some bozo from LPSG is gonna try to link this CIA guy to Obama..."

Hey! No terrorist attacks on the new president's watch. Yeah, that's right! Zero! Zilch! Perfect track record in keeping this country safe! (that one demonstrative, potent act of closing down Gitmo has done more to make us safer than 50 years of waterboarding, hooding and military dogs).

Oh, faceking. I expect so much more from you.

Here, according to your own original posting, is proof this happened under DUBYA's watch:

"Officials say the 41-year old CIA officer, a convert to Islam, was ordered home by the U.S. Ambassador, David Pearce, in October after the women came forward with their rape allegations in September." (emphasis added)

This was before the election! Would you say it occurred under McCain's watch had he won the election? Seriously now. Just be honest and admit that you shouldn't throw this onto Obama. The alleged rapes occurred, and the knowledge thereof reported, prior to a new President. PERIOD. AMEN.

    Your chat buddy,

Dude, I'm developing a crush on you.

Do you have any idea how often I force this discussion in my behemoth of an IT corporation?

    Agreed

If? I saw the news report. These aren't exactly unfounded allegations. There is video proof! He used a combination of Xanax and Valium to sedate the women. :irked: One woman reported feeling paralyzed and wanting to kick and scream but being unable to move or vocalize her opposition to his rape. :angryfire2:

Why are we calling these alleged rapes when there is video proof?

Because our society is based in the rule of law, and in the realm of criminal justice defendants are not guilty of crimes until such a verdict has been rendered in open court.

I am calling them "alleged" because the official report states "allegations" and I am not a rights-tamping individual who forgets that the first rule of the criminal justice system in America is "innocent until proven guilty." Furthermore, videos, unfortunately, do not prove anything in a legal case -- just look at Rodney King's case in Simi Valley.

I can imagine. I'm fighting that battle here, too. Biggest argument against? "But this is the way we've always done it!" And "Change is hard!"

    Involuntarily?

As an "enhanced technique" for extracting (unreliable) information?

Do you really consider the examples you've cited to be equivalent?

Waterboarding is the nicest way to get the necessary information from the bad guys... or would you prefer the Saddam Iraqi version of live battery cables on vaginas... for important intel that isn't given up? You pick which one? No, "other"?

We should definitely be using Saddam Hussein as a gauge for when we go "too far" with our torture techniques.

"Well, we don't want people to think we're as bad as Saddam, so let's take what he does and back it off a little bit."
