Since joining this site I have noticed three things:

    1. Some people just can't get enough of circumcision.

    2. Some people can't keep themselves from getting nasty about it.

    3. Some people just looooove arguing over correlational studies that have no way in hell of proving causation, and are therefore relatively useless in the scheme of medical research.

Therefore I propose the following as my contribution to keeping this incessant dialogue going:

Since most men in the USA get circumcised, and since the USA is the "fattest nation in the world", there is therefore a positive correlation between circumcision and obesity. Furthermore (!) circumcision must, therefore, forsooth, CAUSE obesity.

P.S. to any stat heads out there: Any thoughts on the sample size we would need to achieve the power necessary to get that correlation and get it published in a peer-reviewed journal?

Thanks dude. So's your chest

I would like to propose a general foreskin/circumcision satire thread. The squabbling is so played out! There must be tonnes of comedy gold out there.

Finally the "Restoration" rackets and the weightloss rackets can join up to create great giant profit margins. Just think, "Tug your way to thin!" Ouch!

Simcha, that was sheerly ingenious my friend! My kind of humor right there. You are such a delightful gay man to have around. I need to hire one just to keep me company all day, do you travel? ;)

Sometimes and I'm from the Midwest (Chicago) and spent some time in Davenport, IA. So I don't mind making it to the midwest... lol Thanks for the compliment.

Maybe Weight Watchers should start selling shakes with powdered foreskin in them.

Yes, I must agree. Since many studies have shown that overeating is connected to feelings of loss, it can be readily (at least around here) surmised that the emotional toll of having been circumcised at birth, causes children to manifest their grief through the eating of massive quantities of food which leads to the subsequent obesity.

As an interesting side note, it has been recently revealed that the majority of sales of items such as onion rings (Onions being known to have several layers of peel-back skin) and fried pork rinds (a food often mentioned as resembling fried foreskins- not that I've ever seen a fried foreskin) are products sold primarily to men who have been circumcised. This research was conducted for 12 years at Jane Hopkins Institute of Mediqual Quackery. (please note: Jane is in no way related to either John Hopkins or the Welsh actor Anthony Hopkins- who in character as Hannibal Lecter could indeed tell us if fried foreskins and fried pork rinds looked and/or tasted the same as each other.)

Further studies from the aforementioned Jane Hopkins Institute, showed that circumcised boys were also more likely to consume large quantities of fatty foods whereas uncircumcised men prefer to eat in a healthy manner. For those circumcised as adults, less substantial weight gains were seen over the course of the study.

So, in closing, circumcision brings about intense grief at the tragic loss of a foreskin which can alas only be remedied emotionally either by expensive sessions of pshychotherapy or by the less expensive method of gorging the self with burgers and fries and deep fried Twinkies (notice how the deep fried Twinkie now has an outer layer, which could be viewed as a foreskin?).

    Why did Bush invade Iraq?

    Circumcision made him do it.
