    Hey guys,

    I've got an issue.

come January, I'm getting circumcised, and as much flak as I'll get for this, I have no choice in the matter, a severe case of phimosis is causing me issues, so I finally made the decision to get cut.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm absolutely terrified, I've had a foreskin 19 years, and it provides some damn good pleasure, but the phimosis is causing me problems that can only be solved by circumcision, it's such a case where it actually restricts my size, and I can't have sex because the skin tears it's so tight.

I understand that I'll be losing a lot of nerve endings, and a fair bit of skin, but I spoke with the urologist, and he's going to remove as little skin as it takes to remove the phimosis, but what i want to ask is, any of you guys who have had the cut done, or know someone who did, how bad was it? or if they prefer being cut, what are the big pros of having it done? Thankfully, I'm getting a loose circumcision, so I won't have the big issue of the 'high & tight cut' this doesn't appeal to me, as I've always had a fair bit of skin to play with . But I just wanted to get some first hand opinions, or even second hand, so long as it's constructive :D

I've always beed cut, so I can't really give a definite opinion, but being cut isn' bad. Even if you like being un-cut better, it won't be the end of the world. Sorry I can't give a personal opinion.

I have a friend who had to have it done later in life and after the healing process and a bit of adjustment it was ok for him. Given that it is a matter of have to have it done and you've got a good doctor he or she should be able to make it happen with out ill effects. Being able to state your wishes to be cut a bit looser should also help with getting used to it. My friend had to have it done in an ER so he wasn't quite as lucky but he let his partictular problem get a bit worse than you ... or so it sounds. Remember your doctor is there for you to help you get through it so if you have questions spacific to your situation don't be afraid to ask them.

Good luck and best wishes ... you'll get through it.

You might want to look into possibly stretching the opening gradually over time you could loosen it up or maybe using a steroid cream in addition. I dont know off the top of my head but there are other options.

I understand that some people are against this, however you must realize that if I didn't have to get circumcised, I wouldn't. I've been looking for solutions for 4 + years, Steroid Cream never worked, stretching (long term or short term) only made it worse, the fact is fora ll my trying, it's only gotten worse, I can't have sex because the skin tears so easily, and it's gotten to the point where it's restricting my erections (thus the whole restricting my size shpeel)

I just want constructive advice from others who've had it done, or know someone who's had it done, I don't want to hear what I've heard a hundred times before "oh no, don't do it, genital mutilation, blah blah blah"

    I KNOW.

fr4gged, aome people see the word circumcision and automatically go ballistic. One poster stated that you would hate it. How does he know unless he has had it done? A friend of mine that I grew up with in England had to have his done when he was almost 15 much because of the same reasons that you are having ro have it done. After he recovered he loved it, said he wished his Mum and Dad had had it done when he was born so he wouldn't have had to go through so much pain. Mine was done when I was an infant so I don't know any other way, but I like mine like it is and I don't think I've lost any sensitivity due to being cut. You do hear a lot of people call it penile reduction surgery. I mean blimey, I got almost 9 inches hard as it is and if circumcision is penile reduction surgery, how big would mine have gotten if left intact? Mate it's your decision and since it IS a medical necessity, disregard the negative posts and best of luck with your surgery.

Have you looked into a dorsal slit-type procedure instead? That could fix the phimosis, and leave the foreskin. You could have your cake and eat it too.

Try stretching. There is a cone type thing that 'foreskin restorers' use. You slip it inside your foreskin (you could use a small cone at first) and it will stretch it slowly. You can wear it all day and its easier than stretching by hand.

I really wouldn't like to get circumcised but if you HAVE to...there's no way around it. Just make sure you try everything else, whatever that may be.

I've spent years restoring my foreskin so my opiniion is biased. I would recommend that you pursue the least possibly destructive option possible and that is a dorsal slit.

I do understand that your foreskin has caused a lot of problems but totally removing it may cause you even more problems including lack of sensitivity, problems reaching orgasm, skin infections due to abrasion of the penis through sex or tight fitting clothing, etc.

Good luck, but remember, a total circumcision is exactly that. Make sure your doctor understands exactly what you want done.

One of my best friends from WW II had his done while in France during his tour there. I don't remember WHY he had it done. The trouble was that a couple of his friends (?) paid a prostitute to slip into bed with him while he slept. Upon awakening and finding the naked girl next to him - - - well he had to have new stitches put in.

My advice is not to publish too much information about your upcoming surgery and DON'T trust your friends at all. You never know what some people may think is funny.

I don't know if this will help you, but here goes:

At the gym I was acquainted with an uncut student from abroad. He spent a year or so in Europe, and one day, on his return, I saw him in the shower at the gym, and he had been circumcised. Frankly, for a moment I wasn't sure that it was he. He didn't have any complaints about his circumcision -- said he hadn't yet masturbated or had sex, so he didn't know how his pleasure had been affected. I certainly thought his penis looked better -- he had had quite a bit of foreskin overhang.

    Buddy,

I don't know anyone who was cut as an adult by choice.

There are situations when there really is no other option - a friend was cut at 17 due to the same condition as you - he'd tried EVERYTHING - but in the end he had it done - he isn't entirely happy. And if he ever says things like "I want my skin back" (in a sort of jokish fashion) - all I say is, you feel things in a different way - yeah, it isn't what you wanted... but it still works and you can definitely still have fun with it.

Fr4gged... I went to High School with a guy that suffered from phimosis although it wasn't I guess a really severe case. He was able to skin it back when he was hard although when he did, it cut the blood circulation off to the head and as I remember a few tears to the eyes as well. A couple of years after we were in college, I asked him if he was ever able to get it "fixed" meaning cut, I guess... he said he had gotten tired of the pain and did it himself. He said he ripped the skin under the head and it worked. I guess he did his own dorsal clip.
You will not find another person on this board apposed to circumcision as I am. I applaude you for this very hard decision. I can only echo what has been said by a few here... make sure your doc know's exactly what you want. Perhaps clipping the dorsal skin might remedy the problem and maybe not. But doctors occassionaly get a little knife happy so make sure that he understands to remove the very minimum to relive the phimosis.
This is the way circumcision should be handled though, when YOU THE OWNER decide to remove it and not a doctor brow-beating the parents to do it. Good luck with it. How about showing us before and after pics so we can watch your progress...?

A close friend of mine suffered of the same problem. He didn’t want to have a circumcision so he tried every alternative he could find. About two years ago he had major problems with his tight foreskin. As soon as his dick started to erect it caused a hell of a pain. Finally at the age of 38 (!!) he decided to have his dick circumcised. He had it done, had some pain, but after a few weeks it was healed very well. Some skin is left but not enough to cover the glans, only the corona. He told me that he felt so stupid being afraid of having his skin cut, not knowing the difference. He has a very normal (gay) sex life now and he enjoys more than ever before the feeling of his dick from top to his belly. One of the effects of his tight foreskin was that when erect his scrotum was half way his shaft. Often his testicles where pushed back in his belly because there was not enough room left in his sac.
I know this guy for years and I have seen him struggle with his problem. I have seen him enjoy also alter circumcision while we had a mutual jerk off.

I had myself circumcised at age 30 - not because of a phimosis or any religious reason, but because I like the look of circumcised cocks, and I also because I thought it would be more compatible with my ampallang (horizontal cockhead piercing). I have a friend who has spent half of his life trying to restore his foreskin. He was circumcised as an infant and has never forgiven his foster parents (sad story really) for having it done to him. He cant understand why I wanted to be circumcised, but we're both into body art and he respects my decision.

I completely sympathise with guys (like my friend) who mourn the loss of their foreskin, but as with all mourning, you have to move on. Sadly some guys (again, like my friend) get stuck, and their lost foreskin becomes a metaphore for their disgust at having been 'mutilated' as they see it. I don't think there's much to say to these guys, except to understand where they're coming from, and to congratulate them when they manage to restore some or all of their lost foreskin.

Circumcision did not change my cock's sensitivity to sexual stimuli. But I was initially surprised when I couldn't use my usual masturbation technique, ie. with no skin to work to and fro over my glans I had to use a handful of lube. However, I soon found I could just grip my shaft and move my hand a little, in which case lube was unnecessary. That does the trick fine ;o) As for intercourse: Well, personally, I prefer my circumcised cock for intercourse. A lot of people talk about circumcision causing loss of sensitivity. The surface of the glans does lose some of it's extreme sensitivity to touch (ie. if you are not used to your bare cockhead against your underpants - it will feel rough at first) but I don't think it's any less sensitive to pleasure. As a young man I suffered from premature ejaculation, and I got that under control after being circumcised. I could have attributed my new found control to the circ. but I think it was more to do with having better relationships and becoming more confident.

It sounds like you are set to go ahead with your circumcision. I think they not offered you a dorsal slit type circ. for a couple of reasons. 1) Although it relieves a phimosis, the rusult looks 'funny' or 'wierd' to most of us. 2) The dorsal slit creats a tight spot behind your cockhead and that can cause problems such as pain during intercourse. There are reasons why this seemingly more simple method hasn't caught on.

I'm sure you will be ok with a standard circumcision. I remember sitting at the bar of my local pub a week after my circumcision. I was enjoying a beer, and quietly telling the landlady (think Sibyl Fawlty) about my operation. "Seventeen Stitches!!" she squealed out loud "You must have a big one!" I blushed, but it was quite a nice moment.

The bottom line is that I have no regrets. I'd do it again tomorrow. Your 'new' cock will work beautifully. I'm sure you won't regret it. Let us know how it goes. Best of luck.

To the original poster, I strongly recommend that you look at this page before you get circumcised. There are alternative methods to curing phimosis that have 85-95% success rate. Steriod creams, stretching exercises, changing the way you masturbate, etc. Unless you've tried all these techniques extensively, I wouldn't get circumcised. It's likely your doctor diagnosed you with phimosis and immediately suggest circumcision. Did he tell you about any of these alternative methods? Probably not ... because he earns a lot of money from performing a circumcision, but not from these alternative methods.

A friend of mine was circumcised later in life, I think he was 34 or so, and he said it was pretty uncomfortable but not unbearable. The worst thing for him was that after never having his cock head exposed before it was ultra sensitive for a while - which wasn't good considering you're not meant to get hard for a good while after the op.

He now says he has lost quite a lot of sensitivity and it takes him longer to cum - so it's not all bad, because as I remember he was on a pretty keen trigger before! lol

yep damn those doctors.....theyre all out to manipulate, lie, and not give appropriate advice.....forget about the fact that 80% of patients are non-compliant, lazy and have a sense of entitlement.....i especially hate all those doctors who perform angioplasty just to make money bc no one ever told them that eating McDonalds 10x a week was bad for them.....for the OP, some of those websites that offer "alternatives" are dangerous. Take anything you hear from the general public or internet with a grain of salt and discuss medical issues with people who study medicine. Talk with your doctor one on one.....most are very happy to spend some time and explain things but doctors will explain more if it actually looks like you care about what theyre telling you
