Let's try to establish the facts.

Trump offered DACA in exchange for $25 billion for the wall plus an end to chain migration. Democrats declined. If you feel this is an inaccurate statement, can you please provide a citation? Here is mine. Thanks.

Trump backs citizenship for Dreamers, while slashing legal immigration

Since google eludes you: The immigration deal Trump should've taken, but didn't

Trump's counter-offer was a path to citizenship for dreamers in exchange for 25 billion for the wall, an end to family reunification (what you're calling chain migration), and an end to diversity visa lottery.

The facts are what I said they were. Dems offered 25 billion for his wall in exchange for a path to citizenship for DACA. Trump declined. You didn't need to start a new thread because you didn't believe me (though it would still really help if you could learn your way around google better).

Also worth noting that Melanie Trump's parents became citizens via chain migration just last year.

I haven't seen anything from a media source on the right that confirms what your source claims in the link (thank you) you posted nor in your source's original article.

Schumer takes Trump's border-wall funding off the table

Are there any other sources because this journalist's claim alone doesn't necessarily make it so.

Please don't hijack the thread.
Not hijacking the thread, chain migration was mentioned above as a part of the deal that Trump wants. I find it adds an interesting perspective to the conversation about border security.

Fox news okay?

White House, Dems restart negotiations over DACA, funding border wall

A source familiar with the talks said discussions broke down after Democrats rejected a bid by the Trump administration to extend protections for those enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program until the fall of 2020. In exchange, the White House would receive $25 billion in funding for President Trump's long-sought wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Democrats countered with an offer to provide funding for the wall in exchange for a pathway to citizenship for all 1.8 million DACA-eligible immigrants -- as opposed to the estimated 800,000 who are enrolled in the program. At that point, the source told Fox News the talks broke down.

That was the offer there. It's similar thing as now. Trump wanted a permanent wall in exchange for temporary DACA protection (2 years of it). Dems wanted a permanent DACA fix in exchange for a permanent wall.

DACA eligible immigrants are still here today, a year after all this was being discussed. The whole temporary protection thing is a non-starter cuz the same can be gotten out of the courts as it is now.

Great clarification, hope Fred reads this, it should clear things up for him.

The facts are what I said they were.

How do you know? The NBC journalist you originally cited claims that Schumer and Trump came to an agreement and that, after Schumer left, Trump changed his mind and COS Kelly called Schumer to tell him Trump wanted more concessions. That smells fishy to me. Here is a CBS article from last January that states (in part):

Top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer on Tuesday pulled back an offer of $25 billion for President Donald Trump's long-promised southern border wall...

Schumer had made the offer last Friday in a last-ditch effort to head off a government shutdown, then came scalding criticism from his party's liberal activist base that Democrats had given up too easily in reopening the government without more concrete promises on immigration.

"We're going to have to start on a new basis, and the wall offer's off the table," Schumer, D-N.Y., told reporters Tuesday.

Chuck Schumer withdraws offer of $25 billion for Trump's border wall

And then there's a piece out today from Real Cleart Politics that says (in part):

This is exactly the case with the all-too-common assertion that Sen. Chuck Schumer once offered President Trump $25 billion in border wall funds in exchange for legalizing the nation’s roughly 1.8 million DACA recipients and 3.5 million Dreamers, but the White House opposed it. Well, that’s the truth, but it is certainly far from the whole truth. And as the Yiddish proverb says, “A half-truth is a whole lie.”

The actual measure put forth by Schumer’s office in February 2018 offered the wall money in exchange for the aforementioned amnesty, but then the senator’s staff inserted a hand-written provision that would have restricted immigration enforcement. This exclusively protected violent criminals and terrorists while also – and this is an enormous “also” – instituted an official enforcement holiday – amnesty – at the border and in the interior of the nation for any and everyone who would arrive in the U.S. in the following five months, through June 2018.

Had the president agreed to this, it would have created an amnesty loophole large enough to drive a bus through and would have triggered a caravan from Central America that would have dwarfed anything we can imagine. Of course the president, or anyone who cares about immigration enforcement or public safety in this country, rejected the sneaky offer. And Schumer’s staff knew they would.

Spoiler alert ... this comment goes off topic. Please ignore if that offends.

Question. Why would someone join a penis website to only participate in political discussion? I welcome the discussion, sometimes enjoy it, but look at some dick while you're here...

It's unclear to me what Schumer's position was last year with regard to funding the wall. The claim that Trump declined $25 billion in exchange for DACA is likely not true.

Why don't you start a thread about that rather than trying to hijack this thread? I offered citations that seem to dispute the narrative set forth earlier and, rather than respond to that, you deflected with your question.

So I deflected, everyone does ... every thread ends up twisting slightly away from the topic.
