Anyone notice CNN has a bunch of new African American news anchors? Having attended an HBCU I find it a very good thing to see this in a big media outlet like CNN. Definitely a positive step for all.

Now, I know they're not THAT new, but I remember when CNN only had Bernard Shaw.

I really enjoy all of them, except for Roland Martin. Him, I would fire.

Is an anchor not something you use to tie a ship in place so that it will not move?

    They're black.

African-American is an idiotically insulting PC euphemism in that it presumes all black people are (1) American, and (2) of African descent.

    And no, I hadn't noticed.

I don't watch TV a lot, so I haven't noticed. But this is a very good positive thing!

My only post on this is that you need to research the African Diaspora. almost all darker toned individuals are of African decent. It's only ignorant people that argue the actual fact of this.

Besides, i wouldn't say any person is black or white...people are all shades of tan.

Yeah.. I gave up on African American two years ago. The experiences of black american (america is lower case on purpose) is distinctly different that African America. Who can, and in many cases in the states, are European transplants..aka..white born Africans.

Their White House correspondent was a good friend of my brother's when they were coming along. After being at some of the other major networks I think she found her niche at CNN.

My only response to this is that you shouldn't be so pedantic.

Go back enough generations, and we all come from Africa, genius. That wasn't my point, and anyone with a modicum of sense would've understood this.

    Absolutely.

There is only ONE race - its called the HUMAN RACE. (Of which the smallest minority is the individual).

A man's race (genetics) doesn't determine the content of his chatacter or intellectual ideas - man forms his own character by his own choices and actions.

There is no proof in that, but I do agree about the politcally correctness of some people.

Black people, white people, asian people, latino people. End of.

    Oh, really?

Care to hazard a guess as to why the overwhemling majority of paleoanthropologists disagree with you and your ineffable teenaged wisdom?

    I'll give you a hint...start with Australopithecus.

So you have no proof either. Fair play.

Who are you to tell others what they have the right to call a certain group? Some choose to call themselves African Americans and some call themselves black. It really should not bother you.

You've certainly provided me with proof of one fact: my ignore list is due for an update. I extend you my thanks and bid you adieu.

That is how I feel. I am a Black American who has African, Scoth-Irish, Apache, etc. heritage. You and I seem to always agree on many of these points Hazelgod.

I had noticed the rise and I am glad to see it. I also thikn it has a lot to do with Atlanta (CNN's HQ) being a center of affluent black professionals. It is kind of a mecca for the upwardly mobile black professional.

    VERY well stated!

Couldn't prove your little theory, have a hissy fit and put someone on ignore. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the teenager?
