This article is worth reading. I really couldn't believe the phrasing in this context, however:
A freshman lacrosse player explained that the butt slap was just a variation of the congratulatory shoulder or back slap, moved lower as a reflection of the intimacy between two players. “Two teammates who aren’t best buddies tend to slap each other on the shoulder or upper back,” he said. “Teammates who are pretty tight go for the mid to lower back. Teammates who see each other as brothers go for the real deal and slap each other’s asses.”

Someone needs an editor.... : )

sure but even if they are they might have a gif of what I mentioned, can't find out if I don't ask right so...
Five years ago there might have been a lot of pictures showing tactical female encouragement from coaches.

During the last 2 years they sent a number of these guys to jail. Now touching a female athlete is the kiss of death.

As I remember, female contenders in the Olympics were often congratulated by their male coaches with a hug or pat. You likely won’t see that at any level today (even with female coaches). Female teammates may still be able to touch each other but even that may soon vanish.

It’s a scary thought, but I wonder how long it will be until this kind of hands-off thinking will work its way down to how children are encouraged by parents and trusted adults.
