If it hurts when you are hard, the cock ring is too tight.

Perhaps you might wish to try one that is of a variable size.

The cock ring shouldn't be too tight, or too loose, kind of like the ring of a condom. It won't really make you much larger, but it will trap the blood in there for longer. if you pump your penis before putting on the cock ring, you'll retain the temporary growth for a bit. Don't leave it on too long, if the blood stays trapped in there for too long (a matter of several hours), you can have tissue death (necrosis) in your penis...not a good thing.
