I'm pretty lucky to play basketball for my university's team. All university athletes have access to both the general/rec locker room AND the athlete only/restricted locker room.

I've been in the rec locker room a few times, but the athlete's locker has a much better vibe and is a bit more spacious in terms of area per user. In the morning, when I run and lift, I'll shower in the athlete's locker room and after practice and games, I'll shower and spend some time in the sauna in the athlete's locker room.

yeah i shower at the university gym. takes me about half an hour to get home from there and i dont want to stink out the train carriage, specially in peak hour

I used the open showers when I was a university student. They were all open showers back then, so you had to get over your modesty pretty quickly. Today I teach for my alma mater, so I am using the athletic centre again. Now the shower room has been converted into about 12 stalls along the walls of the shower room with 3 bradley shower towers (6 heads each) running down the centre of the shower room. I still shower there after my workout, and I prefer to use the open shower towers. Most of the 35+ guys like myself use the open showers while the younger guys mostly seem to use the stalls (not all though). It's understandable considering the fact that the younger guys just came out of high school and still have that B.S. about nudity = sex drilled into their heads. Some lighten up over time and use the open showers, and some don't. I personally can't imagine working out and not showering immediately after. It's totally unhygenic and just plain gross.

Currently the gym is literally across the street so I change/shower at home. I Use lockers and shower at the gym when my gym is not across the street.

When i was in college I loved using the locker rooms and showers just for the thrill of being seen....or even seeing others

I wish all guys were like this. I know I was. Half the fuckin point of being in college is to use the locker room and wear your jock and swipe some if you can and shower together.

i always looked forward to a workout at the univ rec center and took advantage of the shower & steam facilities. They were gang showers and everyone used them. Great camaraderie and bonding experience. The steam room was often crowded and you'd be hip-to-hip with the next guy. No worries or issues with nudity here and never experienced or observed anything sexual in the locker room.

I shower there. being busy doesn't allow the luxury of choice in the matter to be completely honest.

When I was in uni I showered when at the gym; most of us did. I was on the water polo rec team where all but one of us showered. Also, as I lived in the halls of residence for three of four years, the water in rez would be turned off from time to time, so I'd take my daily shower at the gym. No worries.

I've commented on this before, but I agree with others above: to put street clothes on over sweat is just plain nasty. Who wants to smell you stink? Get over yourself, take a freaking shower, use soap, dry off, put on your clothes and go. Geebus.

I live right next to campus so it's easier and cheaper just to go home and shower but if I lived farther away, I would shower at the gym just like I do when I use spas

Well, until the age of 23 or so I would have used the dorm /room shower as I felt embarrassed of my immature and unmanly body. But now after muscling up and feeling so much more comfortably with my sexuality and body I dont care to strip down before others.

i've done both. if im in a hurry or need to go to a class soon, i'll bring a change of clothes and shower in the locker room. but usually i'll just go back to my dorm. i've really enjoyed going to the locker rooms at college, bc all the young guys in there are the ones (like me) who dont care about nudity and just walk around naked and without towels. its not a big deal to them. many of the guys i see in there though are the guys who live off campus, so its easier for them to shower there.

My dorm is about two minutes from the gym, so I just shower there. But, the showers at the dorms are communal.

of course, the locker room at my school has GREAT viewing. ROTC day, ruggers, etc. YUM
