This is very close to my Hawaiian Teriyaki Meat Loaf but totally different...
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef (I grind my own to avoid pink slime)
1/4 pound ground veal (same as above)
1/4 pound ground pork
1 1/2 cups panko bread crumbs
8 oz mushroom finely chopped
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 eggs
1/4 cup half and half or whole milk
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
1 TBL minced garlic
1 tsp sriracha hot sauce
Salt & Pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients and press into a loaf pan. (make sure there is at least two inches of space to pour in the yorkshire pudding batter later) Bake for 25 minutes.

While the meat loaf is cooking make the yorkshire pudding batter (All ingredients should be room temperature or it won't work)
1 cup minus 1 TBL all purpose flour (sifted)
1/2 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 cup milk
Whisk together until smooth

After the meatloaf has cooked for 25 minutes remove from the oven and pour the yorkshire pudding batter over the top and increase the oven temperature to 375 degrees and cook for another 25 minutes or until the yorkshire pudding is puffy and golden brown.
Remove from oven and cover with aluminum foil for 10 minutes and then cut and serve with brown gravy.

This thread got me to thinking about a few of my other favorite things I'm making a sweet potato casserole tonight. I'll post the recipe later.

Sounds delish to me! Think I'll try it this weekend! Love yorkshire pudding.

I'm sure it tastes very nice, but it just unsettles me...

I'll let you know, but so far Nudie hasn't let me down with a recipe, yet!

Yummy. Don't forget the bacon cheeseburger with crispy dill pickles.

My comfort food is anything my mom makes. She's a "basics" type of cook and hasn't changed her recipes at all. Traditional.
Hope I get that chance.

Comfort food. It's something ubiquitus. Every culture has a form of Comfort food thatis predominant when people are feelling sad. It could be ice cream when you go through a break up, Pasta when you feel low, etc.

Anyone else have unique comfort foods to share?

Ubiquitous, unique or whatever. Being unwilling to answer, I decided to just put up links to past discussions on this.

I seriously think we should all hop on a plane and fly on over to NudeYorkers for a weekend of comfort food feasting.

I've never had a peanut butter shake. That sounds sooo comforting. Along with OCMusclejock's PBnJ sammich.

This recipe sounds really yummy - I love the sriracha sauce in it. Thank you.

I'm gonna try it but (this shows my cooking abilities) how do you make brown gravy? from the meatloaf drippings?

It's really easy and it's so much better than buying the jar gravy or the dry package mix.

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp sun dried tomato paste (they sell it in tubes like tooth paste
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
4 cups beef stock
salt and black pepper to taste
In a sauce pan on medium heat melt the butter until it bubbles and starts to brown slightly, add the flour and make a roux and stir until it smells nutty. Remove from stove and whisk in the beef stock until it's smooth.
Return to stove and stir in the Worcestershire sauce and mustard and tomato paste and stir until the desired consistency is achieved. Salt and pepper to taste.
Enjoy!

ohhhh, homemade gravy is so much better. That stuff in the jar is ...I don't know. You can also use butter right in the drippings, beef broth/turkey broth and add a cup or so of red wine, then corn starch. My neighbor and good friend always made the gravy for us. He swore by this -- butter and wine! I always think of him when I make gravy. I can look the recipe up if you'd like, but it's just like Nude's only skip the roux. Both are so good.

I love the sriracha sauce

I edited the quote of your post to the relevant part. :biggrin1: I'm sure you have seen this, but just in case:
Dear Sriracha Rooster Sauce - The Oatmeal

Nudie -- I'll PM you the cottage pie recipe as soon as I can dig it out an type it up. She has it memorized, but I'm sure we have a written copy somewhere.

Yeah, like T Mama said... peanutbutter n jelly sammitches and sweet stuff (that the missus usually makes).

Also, tins of honey roasted whatever, Crunch n Munch or Fiddle Faddle (more fiddle than faddle in these products as of late - they've been pretty skimpy on the NUTS... wait...that doesn't sound right:rolleyes:), Ferrero Rocher, Tostidos white corn tortilla chips and a WHOLE bunch of other JUNK food that I have NO business eating...

...all ravenously consumed while watching TV or playing some multiplayer shoot-em-up.
