Apparently, some conservatives feel that the Holy Bible is too "liberal".
Apparently the 17th-century King James I version is now open to a Marxist interpretation.
Phyllis Schlafly's son, Andrew (this is not her gay son, John), founded "Conservapedia", which is supposed to be an alternative to the ultra-liberal wikipedia. A group of folks at Conservapedia, calling themselves the "Conservative Bible Project" explain that: "Liberal bias has become the single biggest distortion in modern Bible translations."
So, a new re-translation of the Bible is underway -- with goals such as:
* replace liberal words like "labor" with preferred conservative terms
* explain the numerous economic parables with their full free-market meaning
* avoid unisex, "gender inclusive" language, and other modern emasculations of Christianity
These new conservative translators contend that numerous liberal stories were inserted into the original canon and therefore shouldn't be considered sacred.
Example: the story of the adulteress whom Jesus saved from being stoned with the famous line: "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Conservapedia explains that liberals have used this story to argue against the death penalty. Plus, this Jesus character sounds like a radical moral relativist.
What about that passage: "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God"... I wonder what the conservative, free-market translation of that line will look like?
