I've heard that argument proposed before, but I don't buy it. I think it has evolved from peer pressure and it pre-dates cell phone cameras.
I have a young friend (20-something) who has accompanied me to my gym on occasion. He either comes dressed in his workout clothes, or he does the ridiculous towel dance to change. Then he drives home sweaty to shower. This guy is a complete whore when it comes to random hookups, so he is not a prude with his sexual attitudes. He calls me a creeper and an exhibitionist just for changing into my gym clothes in a locker room. And I call him an insecure pussy about his behavior in locker rooms and showers. We really get in each others faces about this, actually. Never once has he mentioned concern over cell phone pics as his justification. It is all adopted behavior from his peers in high school. Unfortunately he never had a chance to overcome that peer influence because he wasn't involved in team sports and his dad never taught him how to be a man through example. And now we have this new generation of men (such as my friend) who are thinking this is all normal behavior. Even worse, the attitudes of these younger guys actually seem to be filtering upward and make others feel like pervs for normal locker room nudity!
The gym I go to is private stalls. I think I kind of prefer it that way so I can stroke my cock in peace.
I've said that part in the past. The son of a guy I know was a high school foot ball player. Someone on the team made of a video of him naked in the locker room, and shower. They passed it all around the school. The school was going to try to let it slide in spite of the parents protests. I would have taken my lawyer and said expel them or we're suing you for allowing underaged porn to be made on your campus.

Chadstallion's photos of the showers brought back fond memories. I think it not only fosters an unpretentious environment, it brings us close like we were. Also, being naked in the locker room is a great equalizer among men.

Well kind of like it. We didn't have that much room between them. Imagine 30 something men showering in a space less than half that size. No wonder we all got good looks in at each other in college gym. You wanted to make sure you didn't bump asses.
There is a lot to this suggestion about "stop masturbating in the showers anywhere" if you want to not be as prone to erections in there.
I had a guy transfer in to our program. From talking to him I realized he came from a school that was very prudish, so to speak, on what the was used to in the locker room. But he was very open when talking to me as I told him our rules and my other sugestions.
He was almost excited about this "new to him" locker room openness.
I told his that we required a complete change into clean clothes including underwear before practice and we required everyone to shower before they left practice every time.
I also told him I recommended a jockstrap instead of other types of underwear and that we also suggested a pre practice shower as well.
We have had some meets were the school had a history of MRSA and they had instituted a shower in shower out policy so it was just a good habit to get into.
So as I am telling him all this he had like a nervous grin on his face the whole time. What he said next caught me be surprise, mainly because of both the honesty and the normal privacy of the topic.
He (still sort of grinning weirdly) said " Coach, I only have one concern. I never have much privacy at home and to be honest I masturbate to much in the shower that I get a boner when It rains. It happened almost every time I had to shower at my old school and we just showered one at a time in each shower room. "
At first I thought he was joking with me, but I realized he was serious so I told him "Well I suggest you find another place to do that so your body doesn't correlate the 2 together. Plus just go ahead and expect you will still end up with a boner a few times, but you definitely won't be the first one or most likely the last one. The guys will call attention to it for sure but I have never seen them view it as a bad thing. They all get them somewhere/sometime that was not appropriate. So just roll with it and laugh at yourself with them and I can assure you it will not be a big deal.
By this time he was really grinning as if he was really excited to get this new experience under his belt. When we issued his workout gear he wanted to make sure he could get a towel for both before and after showers and a jockstrap, so he was not backing down from any part of this new kind of locker room experience.
We insist that all our guys put their phones in the valuables locker we have for each one of them as soon as they enter the locker room if its a time anyone is changing, but still yet we have had this happen a couple times as well. Fortunately it was always among friends. We reprimand them verbally and suggest that turn about it fair play so the one that was in the video gets a free pass to video the person who took the video with no fear of a reprimand.
I know some of you are saying we should make them delete it and such, but with all the cloud storage and automatic back ups and such this would be merely a suggestion.
We also remind them that if trouble arises or a real complaint is made we will not hesitate to press charges and involve the authorities.
Most of the time I hear the person on the video asking for a copy to be sent to them so they can show it off themselves if they want.
I personally don't see the embarrassment in it even if it gets out unless some type of "behavior or something" was taking place other than just normal showering etc.
On a follow up about the transfer guy above. He never had any problems getting adjusted, he did have some boners from time to time but no issues because of it. He took the heat and laughed with the guys, they all had fun with it (maybe more than they should have, but hey boys will be boys). In the beginning I think he was not the only one with a boner by the time the shower was over and over time it wasn't as frequent of a problem for him.
He was one of the most confident guys to ever wrestle for me and the locker room freedom he really came to enjoy and I think would have been miserable to go back to an uptight locker room like he came from.
I do realize this is an athletic locker room and the camaraderie is much higher but I think you just man up and deal with it no matter what the setting. Be proud you have that problem, there are guys out there that would trade places with you for many reasons.

wrestlecoach it was sent out to guys and girls in the school. He had to take a lot of harassment from people. They big time crossed the line.
Yeah, that needs to be handled swift and harsh.
It doesn't need to happen at all, I am just grateful the ones I have had to deal with there was no ill will involved in the harassment.
I am actually running a boot camp this summer for the juvenile court.
