how is a wax different from a shave?

It rips the hair out instead of trimming it down. Yes, it's painful, depending on where you do it. It also gives a smoother, longer-lasting result. It's typically done by professionals (i.e. it's not "do it yourself"), and can also be costly, depending on what areas you do and how often.

Ive been a competitive swimmer most of my life.
Coached for 5 years, but the hours were brutal.
I stopped shaving with the tech suits but now that they are banned its back to the routine. I usually do clippers mostly then maybe razor for big meets but those are less and less these days.

Everything but the top of my head and my butt (y'ouch, learned the hard way on that one...not fun sitting when the stubble grows back). I usually shave my boys just for kicks but leave a little pubic hair, I think the totally shaved cock looks weird.

Like I said, I clip first...everywhere...then shave the arms, underarms, legs, chest. I don't have much on my chest so that's not so bad, the legs suck...I'd hate to be a female and have to do it all the time.

I'm a swimmer,
I shave all my pubes clean just in case my suit slips down a little. I wear speedos until championship season- Fastskin jammers.
I would advise shaving it all. Use an electric razor for the scrotum, and you can shave everything else with a regular razor. Use conditioner instead of shaving cream and shave side to side, not up and down.

What about the rest of your body hair? Do you shave all of that too?

Back in the days, haha, I was a swimmer for the USMC. I was not then very hairy, not much now, but a little more growth. You wore tight speedos. Our heads were shaved anyway and we were advised that pubes and crotch hair sticking out was not allowed.

So we shaved everything and I learned why from the first speedo I put on. Re-tying the cord before getting in the water my pubes got caught in the cord, when i jumped in the water it pulled them like crazy and hurt like hell. It put me back in sixth place where I knew I had a chance at for at least second. I shaved from then after and still do now, but not legs or head. We all sat in the showers shaving like women, it was quite funny.
