Does anyone else momentarily lose their erection when they put on a condom? Or is that something you get used to with time?

It's very normal, and most people get used to it, or at least learn how to compensate for it.

I often struggle to maintain an erection with a condom. No matter how hard I am, the pause to open a package, fit it on, make sure everything is in order, often leads to blood leaving it. Normal size condoms don't seem to fit my girth as well, so maybe that's why, but it even happens with magnums. It's purely psychological I'd imagine, though.

Yes, you get used to it in time. Also, you get skilled at putting on condoms, so the process becomes faster too.

Condoms are a real hardon killer. I can be real hard and will lose it putting on the condom, I take heart med and once I lose my hardon I don't get it back. A real bummer.

Always was an issue even when I was younger. Nowadays, as I get closer to the half century mark, it's even more so because the feeling just isn't there. I used to use lambskin condoms back in the day and they were much better because they weren't tight like the latex ones are and they felt way more natural. But they really only help prevent pregnancy and aren't much help against STD's, so I think we're stuck with what we have.

BTW, incorporating the putting on part into sex play & foreplay does help. If my partner will kiss me real good and give my nips some attention while we're putting on the condom, we can usually keep it going. Depending on the day, though, actual sex with it on can either be sort of lame because the feeling is lost, or can be great because I last forever.

When I was younger I used lamb skins (felt real good) and magnums I used to buy by the gross from the Pharmacist. Didn't have trouble then but now? Anything over my dick is a killer. I put it on, stick it in her and go limp. Too used to bareback after all of these years.

Happens to me a lot also. Just something I've gotten used to.

One thing I started doing to decrease the amount of time was to have the package already ripped open BEFORE I actually wanted to put it on. That way I was fumbling with having to open the wrapper and put it on - taking up valuable erection time! That seemed to work for me.

Putting on a condom before penetration was always a 'passion killer' and wearing one from the beginning thwarted any attempt to maintain a worthwhile erection. This led to some unfulfilling lovemaking. As it was our birth control method we ofen went bareback and relied upon me pulling out before cumming.

So I opted to have vasectomy when we no longer wanted anymore children - sex is fantastic and condoms are a thing of the past.

Yes, it happens sometimes. I think you do get used to it. When it happens I find it's only momentary and I know not to worry about it.

Try getting her to put it on. Also, I find it helps to have it ready (when I can) before I need it - i.e. unwrapped and with the "in" side up (or whichever way you prefer) - to avoid having to fumble around opening the packet and working out which way it's going to unroll. A small drop of lube (compatible with the condom, of course) added to the unrolled "in" side (again before you're going to need it) makes it less of a shock when it goes on and, besides, makes it feel better when you're in it.
