Condoms - how tight should they sit? Do you have pictures of too tight vs. perfect?

    Hi!

I have a question. The importance of condomfit in attaining satisfying sex with protection and minimizing the risk of condomsbreakage is always emphazised everywhere talk about condomsizes are had. Now, the puzzling bit is that every site I have encountered says that the condom should fit you - yes, but what does this mean? Of course it should fall off, and it shouldn't hurt. I experience neither of those things no matter what condom I wear (never tested xsmall or small, but medium to xxl).

I find that when I wear a normal condom there are two problems. First it is very tight, so it is hard to get it on, and often it kind of kills of the boner a little. Now, this problem is not devastating. My condoms rarely break as scandinavian condoms have a rather good quality. When I was younger they would break frequently, but nowadays my technique is slower and more smooth, so it rarely happens. But: I have a lot of skin, so the length is often too short, because my skin kind of "consumes" it. So, even though my penis is not too long, the condom will only cover 1/3 or maybe 1/2 or y penis, and when I pull out the skin might slide over my cockhead and the condom can fall off - this especially happens with the tightest ones, as the tightness kind of provoces this. Also I am scared of gloryholes as some of the idiots consciously "sucks of" the condom, and in the heat of the moment I don't realize it. So now I have to feel with my hands frequently to see if it is still on.

When I use bigger condoms the fit seems better, but I don't know if this corresponds to how a condom ought to be. The bigger variants are not too tight, and sometimes there might even be a little wrinkle where the condom is not stretched out completely. This feels better, but I am nervous that the "looseness" might have the effect of letting the rubber rub against the skin weakening it.

So, how do you chose condoms? How is it supposed to sit? Should it squeeze the cock, or is it okay that it just sits fairly tight but could accomodate 0.3-0.5 cm more girth without being too tight? How about my issue with the lenght of the condom - is there anything which can be done about thís?

Maybe I should just ask my doc. Better safe than sorry, as they say.

You're going to have to experiment. Too loose, it'll come off. Too tight, it'll stifle pleasure, hurt or even break.

There's one out there that will come closest to what you desire. You'll just have to find it.

I tend to think of a good condom as "snug" feeling, about as tight as a latex glove when working on cars. If you just try a condom on it shouldn't leave a compressed ring at the base, and the head shouldn't be pressed "flat" like a torpedo, there should be a distinct ridge just like you have normally. Also, try to put one on and then pull it off, should take some considerable effort and not slide easily. A thing I did was buy a large size "sampler" pack, all brands fit differently. Also, see if there are any "to fit" condom makers around you like My.Size or TheyFit, there should be some European makers.

Getting a good fit over foreskin took a lot of trial and error for me because I had the same problem, 2-3 inches lost in foreskin, and when the skin pushes forward it all bunches up and slides the excess off the head and that really leads to breakage. The only thing I found that works was to leave about a cm over the head, roll the condom down normally, and once I get about 2-3 cm past the head I pull the skin back from the shaft until it pulls behind the corona and it kind of vacuum seals the tip on and stays through pretty much everything. Then just roll down to the base. Hard to explain, hopefully you got the idea.

EDIT: Some makers recommend a little lube on the tip, I strongly recommend against it. I've broken every one I tried like that, probably slips around too much and gets in a bind.

It's important to remember that condoms stretch (so, for example, you can fill one with water and the volume increases far in excess of any penis that's ever going to be inside it). Therefore, an exact fit is not what's needed: it's not like a shoe, for example.

I go by comfort and function. I don't want a condom that feels to tight, and in particular I to feel that there's room around the head. Therefore, a condom that is not straight but that is wider at the head end is best for me. I've never found a condom that goes down to the base, but I've decided that doesn't matter.

Unlike t1ctac, I often do put a bit of lube in the tip before putting the condom on. The operative words here are "a bit" — a tiny drop is all that's needed, and it does make it feel better. I've not had a problem with breakages when I've done that, specifically. But YMMV (your mileage may vary), as t1ctac's obviously does, so you need to do what works for you. Of course, as with any lubricant used with a condom, it's got to be compatible with the condom — i.e. a water-based lube.

Well I was just thinking to myself that it would be great if there was a formula for working out what circumference a given condom width will accommodate.

Apparently its diameter (which I think would be the condom "width") x 3.14 (pi)

Now I used to wear Magnum XL's but they are quite expensive and not readily available where I live. Plus although they fit well they were a bit tight and I didn't have that much sensitivity since they are quite a thick condom (material-wise). Those are 64mm width although it varies along the length (ie I think head and shaft are 64mm wide but the base is only 57mm or so).

Anyway the point is I recently bought some Pasante King Size. Those are 60mm width. Which are actually better for me for several reasons:

    1. They are thinner so I have more feeling in my peen
    2. They are more comfortable to wear. Although the Magnums were bigger it was not where I needed it. I have quite a thin glans and a thick base so because the Pasante are 60mm all over they don't strangle my cock.
    3. They are available in "drug stores" and half the price of Magnum XL's. ie I can get 24 Pasante King Size for the same price as 12 Magnum XL's.

Of course Magnum XL's do have the gold wrapper so I am losing out on the prestige.

So anyway I calculated that a condom with a 60mm width will fit a circumference of 188.4mm or 7.4".

So even if we say 7" and be conservative, allowing for a little room there's still lots of space in a condom that is 60mm wide.

Other condoms you might want to look at are the My Size range. Although I think they're only avaiable online. They do condoms of 60, 64 and 69 (!) mm widths. And of smaller sizes too.

I've always used Trojan Twisted Pleasure to deal with my long foreskin. Peel back, pinch the tip of the condom and roll on as far as it'll go. Then I push the skin forward and keep rolling the condom. It looks a little different from what you always imagine when it comes to dicks in condoms —*but that's because everything you see on pictures online and in porn are usually cut dicks.

It was really confusing for me back in high school. I remember being not happy with the freebies you get at the clinic. These ones that were snug on the bottom but looser in the head for the extra skin, and I've never used another kind.

Free condoms never work for me, they just strangle my cock and make it look stupid / smaller than it is.
