I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but...

Those condoms with the pouches, when you put them on, is there still supposed to be a pouch there?

O.K...first of all I hate condoms (but, that's besides the point...)...I think the objective is to add more stimulation for the man....the sliding of the penis against the material.....so, yes....I think there's supposed to still be a pouch...

When he put it on, it looked like a pouchless condom. It doesn't even look like it was designed with a pouch on it. I asked him if that's how it's supposed to work and neither of us knew because we've never tried one before.

I'm sure it works properly for most men.

It's this one, which was the roomiest looking one at the local drugstore. According to this description, it is supposed to be "loose" in the pouch for added friction.

Yeah, the review on Condomania also says it's supposed to "slide":

The condom that started it all, and by it we mean the condom-engineering revolution. The PP has a loose pouch of latex on its underside, right along your frenulum, (the neck, as any student of biology knows). During sex, the pouch slides back and forth, ostensibly stimulating both partners and compensating for all that material. Since its inception, this marsupialceptive has been hailed as a true innovation. Did we like it? Sure. "Hard to tell if it was the condom or the position," says one guy. "But neither of us had any complaints."

— Peter Rubin on Pleasure Plus Condom

Oh, well. I guess it's time to try the female condom.

I'm not privy to the "pouch" thing, but if it's anything like the "reservoir tip" then woeful inadequacy would not be unexpected.

I use Magnum Ecstasy condom and its the best I've ever used and will never use a different one. But obviously everyone's dick is shaped different. It has a big head area, not like a huge pouch, but just roomier shaped like a baseball bat. My head pretty much fills it up, but it's still not tight. It's a magnum so the rest of it is slightly larger and longer as well. Of course the ring is still gonna leave a ring, but that's pretty much unavoidable with all condoms. It's really the only condom where I haven't thought, "damn, I wish I didn't have a condom on" during sex.

According to Condomania, that pouch is 65 mm and it was tight under the head and on the head, which makes me think that he needs one that is at least 65 mm on the shaft with a larger pouch for the head. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be many options. I found two condoms with 65 mm pouches that have a 54 mm shaft, which is only 2 mm larger than the one we tried, Trojan Magnum XL and Lifestyle XL. I also found one condom without a pouch that is 60 mm, Durex XXL. I also found one with a 52 mm shaft and a 74 mm shaft, LifeStyles Pleasure Tipped Condoms. The FC female condom is 76 mm, which is non-latex.

I'm going to try the female condom next, if I can, because I'm really curious about it. It really depends on what I can find at our local sex toy stores.

I'd never even heard of condoms with pouches before this thread!

Petite, I'd be interested in hearing how you go with the female condom.

TheBF went out to one local toy store and they didn't have any of the ones I listed! I found out that another store has the female condom, but none of the other ones. It's outrageously expensive. Whew! I'll have to send TheBF out to get it. It looks like our best option.

If I weren't considering getting an IUD as soon as my doctor says I can, then I would mail order from Condomerie. They have equivalent sizes to the They Fit brand, and an equivalent brand called Coripa, and a sort of decoder key system for quickly finding condoms that would fit. I wish they also put the actual millimeter sizes, because the widest width covers quite a large range of sizes but at least it's something.

When you get it I'd love to hear what it's like to use. They always look kind of odd and awkward to me.

Hormonal or copper?

Oh, I didn't realise there was another company making those.

Yeah, it doesn't look sexy, huh? It's got to be better than an ill fitting condom, though. I feel so sorry for it, all squished in there. It does help that a too tight condom actually makes his penis smaller, but it also makes his penis a little bit numb. It's sad. :frown1:

I'll write about it in my blog post, as soon as we succeed at actually having sex, which I hope will be very soon. :biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1:

I was considering hormonal because my doctor said she likes not having periods, but then I read on the mothering boards that a lot of women say that the hormonal one killed their sex drive and it came back on the copper one. Birth control pills killed my sex drive, but my sex drive was better on the ring because it releases fewer hormones. The IUD is supposed to work like the ring, very low dose hormones, but my drive is already lowered from prolactin, which makes lactating possible, so my sex drive would be taking a double hormonal hit.

That was a lot of words to say, I'm having a hard time making up my mind.

There's also My Size condoms, which they also sell.

I suspect that the factory that made They Fit is the same one making the Coripa condoms and they're the same condoms. I know They Fit couldn't sell wider ones in the US because of FDA restrictions on condom widths.

TheyFit condoms have been out of production for a while now, and as of the end of this month, you will no longer be able to buy existing inventory. Furthermore, the existing remaining inventory has an expiration date of April of last year, however, properly stored condoms usually last well beyond their expiration date.

The TheyFit condoms are supposedly being reintroduced in more sizes later this year, so check back with condomania periodically.

I don't believe a condom as large as what you describe is available. The manufacturers apparently don't see guys of your husband's size as constituting sufficient market share to make it worth their while economically to accommodate them. I guess they figure they can just squeeze into what is available.

Condoms with a lot of flare, like the Magnum XL are considerably wider at the flared portion than regular sized condoms, but only minimally wider at the ring or "bead".

I would suggest he try the Magnum Natural Lamb condoms: Trojan Naturalamb Condoms | Buy Condoms Online at Condomania

Years ago I tried some natural "skins" and they were the most comfortable condom I ever used. They are quite expensive (I believe) but maybe cheaper than the alternatives. As you can see, they are quite wide throughout, 68 mm unstretched, flattened width, which equates to an unstretched circumference of 5.35". These natural condoms have a large pore size, so although they are effective for contraception, they are not recommended for prevention of disease transmission, but it doesn't sound as if that is an issue for you.

Or you can try the following, which is available in Europe, and I believe elsewhere, as they will ship near enough everywhere, and are very simalar to They Fit.....

Welcome to Coripa Condoms: Your CUSTOM FIT condom brand

Oh, thank you! That's great! I'll try that one, too! I just looked and the same sex toy store carries it, so we can pick it up today!

We are monogamous.

Thank you for the tip. I don't know why Condomania didn't list it on their "larger" condom page.

And squishyness leads to breakages - which you DON'T need right now!

I'm with you every step of the way. Well, maybe not EVERY step of the way (that might be a little creepy), but you know what I mean! I'm looking forward to it too (in a rather voyeuristic sense) :biggrin1:.

It's a big decision to make!!! I recently had to go through the contraception decision making process - not fun! Initially my specialist said I couldn't use anything hormonal, so I was looking into the copper IUD and it didn't appeal at all. But he finally okayed me to take the implant and I'm now implanted! It's a big relief.

There are restrictions on condom widths?!? Where's the logic in that?

No! Not only am I not ready for #2 child, my doctor says it could be dangerous. :frown1:

Ew! You perv!

I wonder why you didn't like the copper IUD.

Someone else just asked the same question and I answered him here:

I think the FDA is trying to protect the public from STDs.
