Any Aussies ever been to this festival? What's it like? Little bit hippie myself... wouldn't mind checking out the scene.

Its an awesome event for all ages. Clothing is optional. Mostly a new age philosophy kind of festival, an alternative living conference under the stars. Fun and fascinating people come from all over the world. Typical events: Fire twirling. Markets. Kitchens. Camping. Spirituality / magick workshops. Drumming circles. Dance. Ritual. Massage tent. Swimming. Mud tribe.
You are expected to observe these guidelines: 2 hours of volunteer work. No open fires or amplified music or pets. No alcohol. Definitely not a swinger's kind of event though unfortunately it does attract moochers and sleazebags. Also the thermometer can be anywhere between 30 - 50 degrees celsius so bring water and sunscreen. Mosquitoes and other wildlife can be an issue. Also be fire aware.

Mind you, regarding casual sex / swinging there are plenty of opportunities. But the main focus of the event is finding alternative methods of living.

Had an equivalent in New Zealand for several years : the Nambassa Festival. A similar format conference and festival with the latest bands. Very popular with young people. Held over Auckland Anniversary weekend. Last held in 1981. Was at the time a similar type of festival at the Punakaiki area of the South Island. Both festivals sought to gain support for sustainable and communal living. Also characterised by mass nudity. Most festivals today are strictly commercial though in recent years an alternative festival has been able to get going near Nelson, this is the Luminate Festival and there is one planned for January 2015 over a week. There is also Kiwburn held at a similar time of the year at Hunterville, 2 hours north of Wellington. Both festivals are tolerant of nudity but probably there would be more nudity at Kiwiburn. There is also an alternative festival near Windsor in the South Island in March and another near Dunedin around the same time. As well as these there are a number of Circus type hoop events which draw circus performers. On top of all this there are several other alternative festivals : Prana in the Coromandels at New Year and Rainbow Gatherings. The last are as not that structured but are clothes optional.
