New european champions in football (soccer to some)
Yes! Congratulations Espana
Fernando Torres is hot!
I successfully missed most of the game but the bits I saw were good...
I'm glad Spain won - I think they deserved it.
I think they deserved it overall. Congratulations Espana!!
2 years removed from Italy's 2006 World Cup, another 2 years is a long time before 2010's World Cup. Wonder who will be hot enough to take that from Europe (maybe even South America) or be the favored contender from Europe ?
Congrats to Spain. I do not follow sports. On occasion I will hear if something important is going on in the world of sports but did not hear about this. (World Cup I assume)
And The men of Spain are hot....caliente(they being my ancestors and all)
Yay! We won! :biggrin1:
Hey they won. Conrats Spain...
I will not congratulate Spain until they cease their inhumane and disgusting tradition of bullfighting.
The first ginger-haired Spanish guy I ever saw.
Great goal. He is one hell of a skillful player.
As opposed to wiping out entire communities and spraying Agent Orange and stuff over totally innocent folk, just because they shared a different political belief to yours?
Dude... we are so ashamed of bullfighting and stuff... Don't make us an "estocada" (thrust) with no need. I mean, we are talking about soccer, let's not mix concepts (I know some spaniards do).
If any other country won, we would reproach it for its dark politics. We could make a list for every country.
*Fight against the bullfighting*
I wasn't aware that Fernando Torres, Xavi, Luis Aragones, or any of the Spanish national football squad participated in Bullfighting....
Just trollin' ^_~
Ahhh, I see, my bad...
Troll on. :biggrin1:
Cuz Vietnam becoming totally communist was gonna be a real threat to world security, wasn't it? Same-same Korea.
And the whole of North and South Vietnam is communist. As is Korea.
Well, that really fucked the world and it's status quo, didn't it?
And as for Iraq.
If Sadam really was such a problem, I'll offer up this:
Al Pacino (as the Godfather) said "If history has taught us anything, it's that you can kill anyone"
You don't need to take on the entire country &/or race.
The first twenty minutes were pretty dead but there was some good little tid bits here and there.
That's why it'll never catch on here in the USA (soccer that is), it's too slow of a game. Hockey has it beat as the # 4 team sport. Those guys at least can skate the length of the rink end to end. NFL is a slower game, but that's because they stop the clock and reset for plays that are generally more successful in terms of scoring.
I'm an avid Azurri fan (Italy), but their style of play is slow. The only other soccer teams I can watch is Argentina and Brazil, now those guys can put 6 goals a game on their opponents, the rest of the nations get a couple and they sit on that lead for 90 minutes.
Today they tried to show a DC United vs LA Galaxy soccer match thinking Beckham will draw an audience. Judge for yourself, a 4-1 loss in a league he's supposed to be the superstar in:

I really wish Beckham would give back the money from the contract he signed (5 years/250+ million), he's simply not worth it, he was injured when he got here anyway. Hell let him keep enough to move he and Posh Spice back to England. He's a "has been" and washed up soccer player. If the US league needs old soccer players, Totti and Zidane would be far better for promoting soccer. Just like Pele and Chaniglia did for it with the NY Cosmos. As for Beckham, he sucks and his team the LA Galaxy sucks. Sorry Brits, but the truth is, you shipped us Beckham to the USA to have a modeling career, he was done in England and you shipped us a lame horse. Posh Spice may be a celebrity over there, but on this side of the Atlantic, we don't care about the Spice Girls.
