Controlling when you cum

I have practiced this pretty much by edging and then holding back just before I feel the orgasm coming. There is also a trick to squeeze the head really hard when you get too close. It helps against the cum pumping reflex.
I just think it mostly has to do with learning to listen to your body and how it responds. And knowing when to stop. I have come to a "skill" where I can release some cum and precum fluids without actually orgasm. Feels great.
But I still miss the signs and reach the point of no return too late.

Not with any precision. I recognize the sensations of stimulation that will bring me to orgasm rather quickly, and change to other stimulation that is less effective. Sometimes I can stop an orgasm just before the point-of-no-return by stopping all motion, tensing my body in general, and clamping down with my Kegel muscles. But after doing that - especially if I do it more than once in a session - my orgasm is less intense and less satisfying when it finally DOES happen.

(And sometimes, if my wife senses that I am fighting against orgasm, she will frustrate me by doing something (stroke my balls, Kegel squeeze, stroke with her pussy, etc) that triggers my orgasm.)
 
If I'm jerking or on top, I can control when I cum fairly accurately because i control speed and intensity. When she's riding me, all bets are off.
 
Several things for me, I think:
  • Kegels
  • Getting to know the signs that I'm approaching the point when I'll need to cum and changing the stimulation (edging is an example of this, I guess, but it can be done during sex too)
  • Practice (happily the practice is fun)
 
Been practicing edging with breathing for the past 25 years. Whether solo or having sex, works for me. I can last most of the time as long as I want before deciding to unload.
 
I can control how long I last by

1. not squeezing my glutes (butt muscles) together strongly while thrusting
2. which reduces how much I flex my lower back while thrusting which also helps
3. using other parts of my body like legs and arms to create whole body thrusting movements or move a partner
4. moving less which may cause a partner to move more spontaneously... and makes it hotter for them, too :cool:
5. using gravity to create thrusts

Then there's the old reliable: lying unmoving on my back while a partner buck buck bucks to their heart's content.
