    Turns out the dogs lose.

Cop vs. Dog - Hit & Run : Reason Magazine

    By Radley Balko

"Last July I wrote a piece for The Daily Beast on the continuing cops-shooting-dogs problem. While it's difficult to say just how often this happens (police departments tend to be less than forthcoming with the data), it's often enough to produce a regular stream of news stories. What I did discover while reporting that piece is that very few police departments provide training for their officers on how to deal with dogs, something I found astonishing given how often your typical cop is likely to come into contact with one. By contrast, a U.S. Postal Service spokesman told me all of their employees get annual training on interaction with dogs. Probably not coincidentally, he also said serious dog attacks on postal workers are vanishingly rare. The other problem is that there's rarely any accountability for these shootings. If a police officer says he felt threatened by the dog, that's usually enough to justify the shoot, even if the dog was a miniature Dachshund, or a Jack Russell Terrier."

They should teach the police how to interact with humans first. Then worry about the dogs.

I doubt its a problem of teaching them. You can tell them anything they want, they'll still be assholes. There is no reason in the world that cops can't do both; it is letting them off to say that they aren't learning something else so they shouldn't learn this. In fact, thats a logical fallacy.

As to the dog training: the humane society offered to train the cops for free, but they don't care. It's easier just shooting peoples dogs.

Tell us, with your chosen user name....why should we take your political threads at face value and engage in constructive dialogue? :pat:

Now that you say it....I wish I'd picked a mature, thought out, and engagable name like TomCat84. That would have been better.

When you read that name you (well, I think I'm being generous) thoought about immigration didn't you? If you didn't then you should read books till' you've it does.

I didn't write the article, I found it and thought it was pretty incredble. People don't care about what police do anymore. I thought I might be able to stir up some old fashion interest with an example of how untrained/unrestrained cops hurt animals.

For all you know, the name could refer to Tomcat fighter jet.....nevertheless, as someone once so eloquently put it, "I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person"

And you're armed with a TomCat?

Lets recap: You tried to make fun of my name, but you had a ridiculous name, so you ended up leaving after dropping a knee-jerk remark you hope insults me(but we all know it was just pathetic).

    Please, take you're trolling elsewhere.

Uh, I wasn't "making fun" of your name- I was asking why we should engage you in a dialogue when you have a blatantly racist user name....I'm going to go ahead and assume you meant "your" and not "you're"

New rule... Anyone that voluntarily names themselves after a politically charged, fear mongered key phrase geared to make stupid people jump has no business trying to tell others how bad other people's usernames are.

    AAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHA! ! ! ! !

I honestly just fell out of my chair laughing at you.

Put on your best thinking cap, this might get a little steep: I.....am.....an....anchor.....baby. My parents were illegal.

Thanks for the gramar lesson; it's all you got.

I had to respond again, this was just too priceless.

There is nothing racist about being an anchor baby. Nothing at all. if you need I'll provide a link to the definition of the phrase.

Priceless: more liberals simply denying anything they don't want to believe.

    Things to believe:
    -Socialism Works
-The world loves us because Obama is president
-Anchor_Baby's parents were upper middle class white conservatives.
