Storming The Beaches Of Orange County!!!

They came heavily-armed with flags, floppy hats, croissants and Mimosas, ready to storm Laguna Beach and liberate Las Brisas restaurant atop Cliff Drive. This probably wasn't what allied commanders had in mind during Operation Overlord in June of 1944 but heck, this is Southern California in May of 2020. If you're going to acquire herd immunity to the coronavirus, this beats the hell out of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Lockdown in any form merely delays herd immunity. It stops health services being overwhelmed, but it is not some answer in itself. De facto every nation is either following:
1) Quarantine on all entrants (eg New Zealand) OR
2) Herd immunity.
It's not a case that nations "try to reach" herd immunity. It's a case that for most there is no alternative. If a vaccine is a year off we've at least another year of infections and deaths.

Let's begin with yourself.

Ahhhh, now Cuomo is asking “what happened in China?” His overall macro question. The question everyone has been dancing around.

Cuomo just said in today’s briefing that he heard that the strain of the virus we had (in the US) was more “virile” than the strain in China.

Must be, it has seduced Trump and all of his supporters . . .

Trump apologists are already angling on blaming China for the death count and his spectacular mishandling. Shifting the blame is a tried and true strategy for Trump. The "I take no responsibility at all" presidency is in full bloom.

....he is eager to scapegoat China for a pandemic that has infected more than 1.1 million Americans, killed more than 68,000 and left more than 30 million jobless. More tariffs are likely, because Trump still doesn’t realize the costs are paid by U.S. consumers. “[The Chinese] have a lot to answer for, they’re going to be held accountable,” White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow said on Friday.

It’s true that China initially tried to cover up the coronavirus outbreak. It didn’t lock down Wuhan until Jan. 23. One study found that if China had acted even two weeks earlier, it could have averted 86 percent of its coronavirus cases. But another study shows that if Trump had announced social distancing guidelines two weeks earlier — on March 2, rather than March 16 — he could have prevented 90 percent of U.S. coronavirus deaths.

The worst President in American history confronts the worst crisis that this country has faced in 90 years. What possibly could go wrong?

We've seen just stunning ineptitude these last couple of months. And, now, the Administration evidently has decided to blame China for our woes. China is the perfect scapegoat in the minds of some: it has a government that most detest, it is the America's arch business competitor, and most important of all, its population has conveniently non-Caucasian features.

And, so, we'll do something spellbindingly dumb like canceling part of our debt obligation to China, causing interest rates to skyrocket, or imposing yet another round of tariffs on that country, reigniting an all-out trade war in the middle of what almost certainly will become a Depression. And, if China should happen to perfect a vaccine against COVID-19, guess which country will be the very last one in line to receive it?

China is the new Mexico for Trump's 2020 campaign message. Bad things must be tagged to some country his xenophobic base can hate. The buds on that flower are already in bloom here with certain posters. All this may sound very familiar to the strategy George W. Bush pressed everyone in the US government to say Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. Total lie but mission accomplished!

WASHINGTON — Senior Trump administration officials have pushed American spy agencies to hunt for evidence to support an unsubstantiated theory that a government laboratory in Wuhan, China, was the origin of the coronavirus outbreak, according to current and former American officials. The effort comes as President Trump escalates a public campaign to blame China for the pandemic.

==

Mr. Trump’s aides and Republicans in Congress have sought to blame China for the pandemic in part to deflect criticism of the administration’s mismanagement of the crisis in the United States, which now has more coronavirus cases than any country. More than one million Americans have been infected, and more than 60,000 have died.

Trump Officials Are Said to Press Spies to Link Virus and Wuhan Labs
So the intelligence agencies were not to be believed when they said Putin/Russia interfered with the election, but now he wants to use their credibility to find someone to blame for the slowness of his response? Got it.
