Scary stuff. And, as the article itself indicates, all the more reason for as many people as possible to get vaccinated.

Again, the WHO allowed this pandemic to reach these levels, by not coordinating globally the restrictions and
quarantines and allowing each country to decide on its measures, yes and no to masks, yes and no to closing
air and sea travel, yes and no to quarantines.
The WHO are to be held responsible for the huge global spread of the virus, which in turn allowed it to
mutate quicker into variants, as the article explains. billions of mutations - in billions of people, are what
ultimately will be (or possible has already) created/ing a vaccination-resistant variant.
Yet the complete shambles of the initial response, during Wuhan and Italy's outbreaks, isnt being
investigated, and these failures are being neglected by the global media, allowing the failed WHO to continue
its mutation of misleadership and mishandling of the pandemic (which coincidently it was the last to actually
term it as such, one of many of its media-circus statements).
Its time to formulate a global unified response, unified rules, unified actions, unified decisions, unified testing
standards, unified vaccination drives, unified borders rules, unified quarantine strategies.
All of which, if the WHO had acted properly, not tried to help china underestimate the virus, and had taken proper leadership, could have prevented these delta et. variants from forming and certainly from spreading so quickly.

I'm more in favor of this plan than I am hopeful of seeing it implemented--with or without the WHO.

Can any off you agree that China has taken hostile actions against the US?
If so, can you go a step further and agree that Covid COULD, possibly, maybe be one such hostile action?

I think we can all agree that China does not have the best of interests of the US high upon their list of priorities.

Also I think agreeable is that China has. Wry hungry eyes for an even greater standing in the world.

22 January 2020

WHO mission to China issued a statement saying that there was evidence of human-to-human transmission in Wuhan but more investigation was needed to understand the full extent of transmission.

30 January 2020

WHO’s situation report for 30 January reported 7818 total confirmed cases worldwide, with the majority of these in China, and 82 cases reported in 18 countries outside China

25 February 2020
In a critical month, during the whole of Feb 2020, the WHO fails to call it a global pandemic, fails to coordinate a global unified response, fails to call world leaders to formulate prevention.
read this npr report of it:

Why Is The WHO Not Calling The Coronavirus A Pandemic?

It takes a further 2 weeks of global scrutiny and bewilderment, for the WHO to issue a proper
statement and acknowledge the severity of the virus and call it a pandemic:

11 March 2020

Deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity, and by the alarming levels of inaction, WHO made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic.

THE WHO WAS "ALARMED BY INACTION"? MAYBE BY ITS OWN INACTION?
THE WORLD LOST 40 CRITICAL DAYS TO FORMULATE GLOBAL MEASURES, BETWEEN WHO'S 30/1/2020 SITUATION REPORT WHERE ALREADY 18 COUNTRIES HAD CASES, AND 11.3.2020 STATEMENT FINALLY "SOUNDING THE PANDEMIC ALARM".
YET NOBODY WANTS TO TELL US WHY.

I think maybe this entire thread may be more productive if we were to seek the greater blame or common enemy. Ultimately we are all in this together and we are not necessarily pointing fingers in the right direction. I may be wrong.

I am able to personally find much credibility in both sides of the vaccination argument. I also feel that those against vaccination have actually been bolstered by the many disconnects, contradictions, mixed messages and again the WHO issue.
I also believe that the vaccine may not be appropriate across all ages for multiple reasons. The vaccines are in fact not yet fully authorized. Maybe this term is not technically correct but I believe "experimental" is not a poor or false descriptor. As such, remember that long term effects mean different things to different ages of people. As an exaggerated example, inability to bear or father a child means far more to a teen than it does to a grand parent.

I wonder if the WHO has as much power as you think.
Also, a virus and its spread and mutations offer very much moving targets.
I would cut the organization some slack — but there does seem need for changes.
I wonder how much difference it made that Tedros Adhanom, the organization's director general, is not a medical doctor — in fact, the first non-doctor to ever hold the post.
Perhaps not much, I don't know. But I wonder.
It seems that stronger guidance and leadership could come from someone whose grasp of issues and best practices sprang from his entire professional formation.

Well we have the Kyoto protocol for climate.
We have internet protocol.
We have aviation protocol.
we have many intl protocols for many things.
Remind us, oh great and productive Tedros et., what global covid-19 protocols have you at the UN and WHO created for handling this pandemic, in the 20 months it has been going on!?
Was it so impossible to bring a plan of action to a G-20 summit, to decide on global action and restrictions?
what unified vaccination, quarantine, travel, containment, testing and reporting has this "WHO" mandated on govts?
Can we please dismantle a failed organization that has totally dropped the ball on Covid-19 global leadership?

5th of August 2021

Look at this joke that took place this week, 20 months after the start of this pandemic(!) China(!) hosts
"The 1st international forum on vaccine cooperation"..

Why so soon, Tedros, why not hold this forum in 2025, or 2030?
Did the WHO not know that we would need global cooperation on vaccines, throughout 2020?
Or ever in the past, during SARS and MARS, did this idea never come up at all? ever..?
The media probably wont even report on this, so obscure and inconsequential the WHO's actions have become.

WHO Director-General's remarks at the 1st International Forum on Vaccine Cooperation - 5 August 2021

If history is any indication, people drawn together to point fingers of blame at a common enemy can turn out very wrong indeed.

This what I just read out of the last group of posts:

A person used a gun to kill people. We allowed it to happen. Now there are thousands of dead and wounded Americans. But some of you want to go immediately after the one who pulled the trigger... Instead of helping the victims. This is a result of Mass Psychosis. Many of us read about it in school or out of curiosity. It's here and is the reason the politics sections in most online sites are so futile.

Matter of fact... I'm going to start a thread about it real soon.

The world's most widely used vaccine, the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, was developed by BioNTech in Germany, which had received EU funding for many many years to develop the base platform technology...
BioNTech chief: EU R&D funds helped develop Covid-19 vaccine - Research Professional News

The U.S. government did not fund the Pfizer/BioNTech R&D. Pfizer risked its own money on vaccine research and did not take US federal funding in order to avoid bureaucracy and politics according to Pfizer’s CEO Albert Bourla.

The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was also the quickest to market, being the first vaccine to receive authorisation for emergency and regular use. It is in currently being used in 61 countries.

No win for Trump there. Trump bought it, but so did many other countries. It existed without Trump.

The 2nd most widely used, the AstraZeneca vaccine, came from the University of Oxford in the England. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tried to claim that greed is good and that private funding drove the pace of getting the vaccine to market, but the overwhelming majority of its funding came from UK government departments, British and American scientific institutes, the European commission and charities including the Wellcome Trust.

The US did fund the Moderna vaccine, the 3rd most used vaccine globally.

So #1 and #2 existed without Trump. What exactly did Trump do again that was so exceptional? I can confidently say that Pfizer/BioNTech and AstraZeneca were going to get to market in record time without him, despite what he might like you to believe. :p

#factsmatter

Riiiiight. We have Trump to thank for covid vaccines. ;) Just like we have Republicans to thank for the the stimulus relief package that NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM VOTED FOR, though THEY'D have us believe otherwise TOO.

Most of them, including Trump, have been nothing less than cruel, mean spirited, obstinate, backbiting snakes in the grass from day one, and phony-a-------- attempts at tying to equate them with the left only add insult to injury.

Like @sargon20 used to say, for THEM, THE CRUELTY'S THE POINT.

New Texas school guidelines rattle medical experts

They don't want to wear 'em and THEY DON'T WANT US TO WEAR 'EM:

A Missouri taxi service is barring vaccinated riders and face masks from their cars

more local jackasses:

Louisiana GOP Sen Kennedy [always good for a LOL] Endorses Getting Vaccinated And Not Getting Vaccinated

MEANWHILE, MORE on having to put up with DELIBERATELY ass-backward ASSHOLERY:

Uh-huh. Nice try.

All that article does is TRY very hard to make you focus on the ticket itself and not on the fact that the health authorities can't back up their claims, rationale, and reasons for the restrictions. They have NO proof to base the restrictions on and they just admitted it on the record.

If the authorities could back up their claims for all the restrictions with just the simple proof that they should have had from the get-go, which was not an unreasonable request, they guy would have just quietly paid the ticket and shutup.

Clearly, as usual, none of you even watched the video or you would have known he even admitted he would do. But ya didnt.

The game is over. The "authorities" blew it.

And just EXACTLY how would you propose that "the authorities" come up with this "proof" that you demand ??

Conduct "studies" IE "clinical trials" that would take who knows how long and if they didn't take forever you and your ilk, just like with the Vaccines would say "it was too quick" and if it were longer you would have all your tried and true time tested bull shit reasons not to "believe it" or "not trust it" The deep state , Liberals' Biden, -this, that, the other thing

Most of all of it is just common fucking sense

People in OR's have been wearing masks and gloves for decades in no small part to prevent infections,.

This virus transmits via the air so it only makes perfect fucking sense that if you stay 6 feet away from someone you are safer than if it is 6 inches and if 6 feet is good then 12 is better and if you can manage it 18 is even better than that.

But you and your kind just don't want to do it, don't want to be "told what to do"

I will bet good money that Texas has "click it or ticket" Where is all your "outrage" over that "imposition" on your "freedom/liberty" ??

We should blame the Wright Brothers for inventing the airplane.. the invention which accelerated the spread....

I can live with that. At least we won't make death threats against the Wright Brothers. Or beat them up on the street. Or send them to a concentration camp.
