though i generally buy into the statistics available on penis size there is also that shred of doubt that they are not accurate (whether due to 'participant error' [explained below] or 'agendas' such as penis enalrgement sites who want you to feel shame about your penis so you buy their products)

the only studies i take with any grain of salt are the ones done by condom companies (since you would assume they would have nothing to gain from lying and would use reputable scientific methods since the findings have major impact on their product line) but even those would have a lot of skewed results i suspect. the problem with most penis size studies is for one, many of the studies involve self-measurement which within itself induces bias since men are prone to lying about penis size. even the ones that are self-measured are likely skewed as there is the voluntary aspect of it which again induces bias since it is likely that larger men would willingly volunteer (just as we see on the internet where most cocks ae large or larger than average). taking this into consideration it could be very plausible that many men who are small or below average would not volunteer or participate in these studies due to shame about their size.

now i'm sure this is not news to any of you nor is it rocket science to pinpoint the flaws of these penis size studies. my question is, how much do you buy into the average statistics that are out there (which vary but let's use 5.5 length and 4.8 girth as average)?

nb: of course you have only your experiences and perception so clearly no scientific way for any of us to disprove or verify but would like your opinion. also poll options are limited in a sense but the general gist is to see if you believe average is accurate or larger/smaller than reported

This is not a matter of if but by how much. Firstly, visual content on the internet is useless, as are anonymous surveys. Let's forget about them. Then there's the volunteer surveys hosted by condom companies. You rightly point it that there will be a major bias with larger men much more likely to get themselves measured. The largest medical survey of 3300 men resulted in an average size of 5 inches and this is probably the closest to reality thus far.

Of course beyond all of this there's the simple matter of - how they were measured? IIRC, someone pointed out that the often quoted Lifestyles survey in addition to having the volunteer bias was also bone pressed. This can easily add 0.5-1 inch to the statistics compared to non bone pressed. And who's to argue what the standard is anyway? Of course, other issues include inadequate sample size, etc.

All of this leads to one conclusion - the real average length is probably under 5 inches. I would say somewhere between 4-5 inches with reasonable confidence. I guess similar adjustments apply for girth too.

ummm whaaaaaa? I think he's typing with his dick...*not that it is any indication of a measurement....however, I do believe his dick has dyslexia. :)

Also, premature ejaculation.

Seriously though, for some reason there's a b appended to every word, though the sentence does end prematurely.

As to the question that began this thread, “Could you be bigger than you think?" I would say absolutely. I had what could almost be described as an inferiority complex when it came to my girth. Cocks in porn (print and video) looked so much "girthier" than mine. Then one day, on a lark, I dug a measuring tape out of my wife's sewing chest and wrapped it around my post PE semi erect member and could hardly believe what I observed: 7" upper mid shaft, 8" at the base. Thinking I made a mistake, I measured again. And again. And again. Same result. The Thickest dick in porn is supposedly Shorty Mac and his supposed 8x8. (Which means it’s probably more in the 7.5" range). So now I'm thinking I am “all that” and should become a porn star and what not, until the next time I see a Shorty Mac clip and conclude,” I must have made a mistake,” cause THAT big ass thing look so much bigger than mine.

This study was conducted for a specific purpose: "to try and curb a worrying increase in penis enlargement surgery." I smell bias.

One interesting thing the article mentions, though, is "locker-room syndrome." I suspect they're referring to parallax. If I were to stand next to a guy with the exact same-sized penis as mine, each of us would think the other has the bigger tool. Looking down on your penis from three feet away makes it look smaller than it is. If humans happened to have eyes on their groins and genitals on their faces, every guy would think his cock is humongous.
