Highly, highly unlikely, unless you had some kind of open sores inside your ass (sorry to ruin everyone's lunch). You can get tested to be certain, but I'd say the chance is infinitessimal...

Extremely unlikely. He'd have to have an open wound on his finger and you would hav to have some kind of the same thing inside your bottom.

Not that bareback sex is risk free but even if the guy fucks you raw and has HIV, transmission is still actually pretty difficult.

The HIV virus is incredibly weak. Exposure to air kills it in seconds.

Not to sound facetious, but yes if: His finger were spurting or otherwise covered in blood that contains HIV; his finger were covered in semen that contained HIV; his finger were covered in cerebrospinal fluid that contained HIV; his finger were covered in vaginal secretions; or, if his finger were covered in human breast milk that contained HIV.

And I do mean "covered." A dried-out smear, while rendering transmission theoretically possible, would still mean transmission would be nigh-on impossible.

"cerebrospinal fluid"??? really? What did the guy jam his finger in his ear and puncture his brain? If so, where he puts that finger next is the least of his worries.

HILARIOUS!!

Subject matter and response accuracy notwithstanding, a keen sense of humor is very healthy.

Reductio ad absurdum is all about pointing out, in a kind way, how silly someone's worry or argument is.

I am sorry because while I understand concern I am amazed that in the year 2012 we still have individuals asking questions of this type when there is so much great information available from so many good and reliable sources.

I am extremely sorry and in a sense apologize to the OP here. It's not your fault, but it is an incredible example of how bad our educational system has been polluted with the inability do disseminate correct and informative information easily understood by everyone.

The simple answer:

Yes it is indeed possible, but you would have far better odds of winning Powerball twice than transmission in this manner. The question here is HIV remember. There are a number of other things that will transmit relatively easily in this manner.

HIV as a general rule has to have what is commonly referred to as a "blood pathway" meaning it has to go from an infected bloodstream or blood contact area to an uninfected blood area without sufficient exposure to atmosphere to kill the virus. The one thing that HIV cannot survive well is atmospheric exposure.

Any form of anal play requires common sense hygiene before and after.

Infected semen and pre-cum can infect the uninfected blood area as well. I just wonder if it can survive from its journey on the hand from penis to rectum?

It's really not all that difficult to just get checked if it's going to play on your mind that badly, but as has been said, it's incredibly unlikely to nigh-on impossible.

Still, better being paranoid than not giving a shit, so that's a positive!
