I agree with all of what you wrote, I just disagree with fake mathematics. A cylinder is not drastically different at each end. I agree that's not 8" around though.

But there's something that's always bothered me about these 7-8" girth pics but I was always too lazy to try it out. But today out of curiosity I took my little IKEA tape measure and wrapped it around a glass bottle of mineral water that just happened to be 8" in circumference
When looking at the bottle from the side, such as in these photos, 3.5" of the tape measure was visible with my eye and 3" with my phone camera (I guess because of the different focal length).
So why is it that when people post these 7-8" girth photos there's always only around 1.5" showing on the side of the tape measure?

I think this is decent sleuthing. No, penii are not perfect cylinders, but they are close. I've done the same kind of measuring of household items.

Some penii are going to be ovoid or extreme ovoid, but the visible amount of tape can give you an approximation of the true girth and the amount of fudge you can accept.

It is this reasoning that can let us safely identify those that could be truthing and those that are adding an entire inch or more. If you only add a half inch, it's hard to tell, if you are 6.x" and claiming 8" it's pretty obvious.
