It didn't take long for the critics...and cynics to come out in full force. I've copied down a few lines from the internet:

"Animal programs are not meant to be gladitorial..."

"Irwin was a daredevil showman in a safari-suit."

"A Khaki-clad loudmouth who met his not surprising fate..."

This morning the usual conservative talk radio shows in the U.S. made light of Steve Irwin's death, more concerned with ratings and their anti-environmental stance than Irwin's American born wife and two young children who will be deprived of a father. What a strange media world when the death of a famed Australian environmental celebrity can be tied to an American political agenda on talk radio.

Im so sad over his death being an animal lover. He did so much for wildlife preservation and awarness. Most people see him as a thrill seeker, or even idiotic, unaware of his great deeds in preservation. Sadly he leaves a 8 year old daugther, and a 3 year old son to be raised without their fantastic dad. He will be missed greatly.
