nudeyorker, silently would have been alright. But I publicized my statement to others riding the elevator, which kind of humiliated him a bit because at the time I said it he had a half cookie in his mouth with four more to go on the plate. Oh sure, lifting an eyebrow or "that look" would have been correct if I wanted to say something without saying something if you get my drift. My statement was uncalled for.

the fact that you're still beating yourself up over that one slip up says a lot about your relationship and your respect for your partner. too err is human.

I would never, ever criticize an SO in public. You have to be careful what you do, because sometimes you can't take it back.


It's about time doogie said something I can agree with! If you call a person on being publicly humiliated and they keep doing it, it's abuse and a 'deal-breaker'. My marriage ended over this. My ex simply went publicly insane, and I was obliged to react the only honorable way.
