Forget the prejudice.

When I was a kid I had a few drawn out illnesses and I learned to crochet to fill in my time.

It's so relaxing and although I have not done it for more than 35 years can still appreciate the amazing end result.

Anyway, yeah, crocheting is very therapeutic for me and is great when you want to keep your hands busy (when you're not horny, that is). I'm generally interested in making things on my own. You know, DIY projects of any kind.

Haha Danny, it's a face of utter confusion. I did'nt click what your thread title was saying and assumed automatically with the nature of this site that it might have been some sexual terminology i'd never heard of.

I read it as crotch-et-ing and only just clicked cro-shay-ing. :redface:

I used to be able to crochet. In the 6th grade I signed up for what I thought was a croquet class. When I arrived I found out it was a crochet class. I never progressed beyond making pot holders; but I got damn good at those.

Be proud you know how to do that. That is a art in itself. I love handmade afagans and things of that nature.

I bought *Knitting For Dummies* and taught myself on the 12 hour flights between NY and Honolulu. I have a really pathetic cashmere blanket to show for it so far, but maybe I'll improve this year.

I crochet. I tried to learn knitting because it's more efficient but as soon as both hands get involved something fouls up for me.

I crocheted a Tubby the Tuba doll complete with wardrobe for my baby boy because no such thing was for sale.

This is like coming out all over again! It's not something I usually admit to, but I learnt the basics when I was a kid. However, I wasn't very good at it. I got on better with knitting, and I've made sweaters, socks, all sorts of things. It's therapeutic. I have a fairly stressful day, and it's nice to just sit and watch TV or listen to the radio while knitting something. About the only thing I use a crotchet hook for these days is joining the sides of jumpers (which I find easier than sewing them together) or working back if I've made a mistake while knitting.

There's something very satisfying about making things with your hands, and knitting takes up a lot less space than woodwork or ironwork and needs less equipment and space. Plus it's ever so slightly more sociable!

I must agree with you Viking, it is definitely a stress reliever for me. I have seen a bumper sticker:

I KNIT SO I DON'T KILL PEOPLE

In my case, it's crochet.
