I noticed today when I had my Real ID driver's license out today that there is a hologram of a cross crosslet in the clear finish.
Initially I thought this was a cross potent, which has connections to Austrian Fascism - but it is not. (Close but distinctly different). After a little time I can only find references that is a Christian Symbol but not with any specific political connotation other than Christian evangelism I'm still looking.
That issue aside I find it more than a little out of place that a religious symbol of the Christian faith and evangelism, no less is attached to all American ID cards. It honestly offends me, and I'm Christian. If you want to see the cross your Real ID needs to be tilted slightly against direct light - at about a 45 degree or greater angle. The four crosses are joined at their bases so each one extends opposite another side to side and up and down. The crosses have little circles (symbols of some type of jewel?) at all the intersections on the entire cross. This is not something that just popped up by a manufacturing coincidence.
