question for you all-what do you think i should do in my case where I am having a crush on my professor? here's a little background to help you with your suggestions/opinions

i'm studying abroad here in germany now for about 3 months and i'm in this one class where i somewhat think the professor is gay by the way he dresses and carries himself. he's not one of those flamboyant type of guy but he's quite straight acting and very good looking too. i kind of took a liking of him since day 1 and i have his class once a week. today we had a field trip and i saw that he looked at me more than ever before when we were in the classroom for lectures. i don't know what i should do as i am only here in germany for another month before i return to the US but he is quite cute and handsome. i'm 21 and he's 30. very good looking guy.

don't really know what i should do about how i feel or if there is actually anything i can do? please help me! i'm totally new to all this when it comes to another man as I have never been in a relationship with another guy. thanks!!!

To be perfectly honest, making a move on him is really not the best idea...not while you're his student, at least. It's inappropriate and illegal in most places for professors to get with students. If you're just trying to get a fuck before coming back, then maybe you should think of the repercussions he'll endure if you get caught...if you care about him at all, you should just let it go. Besides, if you get rejected, have fun showing up for class for the rest of the month, ha...

If you really and truly believe that he is into you, why not get an email address? Wait for the issue of the student/professor relationship to be null and void, and get to know him later, because you really don't know him if you don't even know if he's gay...

Student/college professor relationships are a dime a dozen. Don't worry about the legal issues, plus you are both over 18 and there is at best a moral issue with the professor only. Since you are there for one more month, stay after class or visit his office hours to get some one on one time and see how you both react. When you wrap it up, bring up a non class subject and talk about your interests and maybe you can meet up again outside of the school. Like an earlier poster said, go for it!

In my experience it’s a losing game to assume a European man is gay based on his dress and mannerisms. He’s probably straight but more stylish and less hung up on performing masculinity than most American heterosexuals. Don’t waste your limited time in Germany obsessing over a man who is your professor and who may not be gay. Find a guy who you know is gay.

Agreed! I know this post is super old, but it's a good topic nonetheless.

Based off the 8 years I lived in Europe (Germany and France) most western European guys' mannerisms and style of clothing would be considered gay by American standards. As such, that absolutely CANNOT be used to gauge his or any other Euro man's sexuality.

Ultimately we all know our circumstances and situations best, but I'm frequently skeptical when someone says they have noticed someone else looking at them more frequently. That could simply be a way of trying to rationalize/validate your feelings and hope there is reciprocity.

Anyway, good luck to all current/future students in similar situations that stumble across this post.
